ClickUp’s automation “When task or subtask is unblocked…” is useful for managing SOP flows. However, it lacks the precision needed to trigger actions only when a subtask is unblocked and to reference the parent task’s data (like due date).
My idea:
Condition: “If parent task due date is set…”
Or: “If parent task [field] is [value]…”
This allows us to build automations that react based on the parent’s context — crucial for accurate SOP execution.
This would unlock the ability to:
• Enforce SOP timing based on parent deadlines.
• Trigger notifications, assignments, or status changes only when a subtask becomes unblocked and its parent meets specific criteria.
• Maintain more control over complex workflows without relying on workarounds or manual checks.
Also allow referencing other parent fields (like status, priority, or custom fields)
