'Closed' task's tracked time does not get added to total for the list/view

If I change the status of a Task to CLOSED, the logged time of the parent List decreases by the amount of the time logged by the CLOSED task.
If all tasks are CLOSED, then the total time tracked for the List becomes 0.
Would be incredibly helpful to see the totals of CLOSED, or other filtered view.

Right now we need to keep these task in the list just for it to take it into account in the sum of track time.
