Planned. The oldest thread on this, and the answer is a per-view Date Source setting: set the start to None and tasks appear only on their due date, no bars stretching across the calendar.

No custom field or automation workaround needed. Several of you built the "Calendar Date" mirror field with an automation to get around this, and you'll be able to delete it. It's a view setting, so your real Start dates stay untouched and Gantt keeps showing full ranges from the same data.

I would LOVE to see an option to filter by just due date in calendar view. Seeing both start and due date makes the calendar feature extremely cluttered.

This would be very helpful as it's immediately something I tried to find as an option when building out my calendar.
I have a lot of projects that we want to have the start/end to measure the time on, but I only care about the due date as an IC.
Was considering creating an automation to match the Due Date to a Custom task and then maybe build the Calendar off of that, but I dunno if that's a great solution for the whole team.

Your instinct was right, don't build it 😄 If we ship this as scoped, the per-view setting should get you there with no mirror field and no automation for the team to maintain.

I think it's extremely weird that you have to show start and due dates together. I can understand why you might want to view your calendar that way but why not allow for either/or?

In some lists it's helpful to have both Gantt and calendar views. With Gantt views, having a start and end date make the visualization really helpful. But that gets very cluttered in calendar view if you have more than a few tasks that overlap on a given day. So I feel like I have to choose to either use Gantt view and include start dates, or use Calendar view and not include start dates, but ideally I could switch between the two. I know I can use a custom date field in the calendar and automate that to always match the regular due date which is a sort of decent workaround, but it's just another custom field to manage and if I'm aggregating tasks in a folder or space view, then the custom field has to be added to all lists. It also clutters up the card view in the calendar because it display that custom field which isn't really necessary because the card is already appearing on the due date, you don't also need the due date listed on the card.

This is the cleanest case for the feature, because the planned setting lives on the view, not the list. Once it ships, the same list will be able to keep full ranges in Gantt while Calendar has the start set to None and shows due dates only. Switch freely.

And no mirror field, so nothing to roll out across lists and nothing extra on your cards.

This would be extremely helpful. While we need start dates for other purposes, it really clutters up the calendar view to have tasks spread out over several weeks or even months. We should be able to select to only show tasks on their due date, even if it has a start date.
