Calculate Due Date based on dependencies

There have been nice updates on due dates, but I'd like to be able to set them and automatically update them by dependency. For example, once Task 1 occurs, Task 2 is due within 48 business hours.
So, when I mark Task 1 complete, I'd like the due date on Task 2 to update to 48 business hours later. This allows the template to automatically update.

This is such a fundamental requirement to keeping track of expected delivery dates and assessing critical paths that I find it hard to believe the product can be useful without it. The lack of this feature is the reason I cannot currently use this product to manage my projects.

So frustrating to be investigating these platforms. About the 4th time I get 3 hours into setup, only to realize that necessary features don't exist.
This, and lack of "View All Attachments" option, are dealbreakers for me.
I might just bite the bullet and go with Wrike - unless some major oversight presents itself with that as well....

Hey guys. Had the same problem and I thought it was ridiculous too, but one of the agents at customer service sent me this, that could maybe help a few of you. You can do it if you combine dependencies and automations. When task is unblocked, change due date.
Steven Di Pietro
Do it as an Automation. When Task A is Complete, set due date on Task B
rleoni
Steven Di Pietro: So, I cannot view a minimal gantt diagram because tasks needs to be completed to have a correct due date. Am I correct?
Steven Di Pietro
rleoni: Hmm sorry I don't know about Gantt. I don't use them
rleoni
Steven Di Pietro: Gantt is a useful diagram to order your tasks and its relations. Clickup knows that and offer a view called gantt, but some features are not implemented yet T_T

Wow, I can't believe this isn't already a part of the product! It's essential for seeing what is actually going on with a project. Manually having to update dates of dependencies is a HUGE waste of time. This has been a standard feature in MS Project for 20 years. Come on ClickUp, don't leave me regretting choosing you.
One of the main reasons I chose ClickUp over Asana or Monday was that I mistakenly believed that this functionality existed in ClickUp. (In Asana it's available through the Flowsana add-on. In Monday it's available through "dependency automation"). I may need to reconsider now.

When building a project I like to list the tasks with the amount of time to complete and the dependencies. I would then add the start date of the 1st task and all of the other task get their start and end dates calculated automatically. Many projects do not start on the original date and in Clickup you have to change all of the dates when start date changes. When I was using MS Project, this was a feature.
