Bulk apply templates to tasks

George
It would be nice to be able to load templates to multiple tasks at once. I would like to be able to select all tasks I want to apply the template to and load the template to them quickly.

Thanks so much for the responses everyone! That helps me validate the approach. The team is currently working on improving reliability of our template application and reducing failures this month. Some of the improvements that we're making to the process infrastructure will lay the groundwork for us to be able to bulk process task templates in a way that won't impact performance and reliability. Once these improvements are in place, I'll provide an update on expected schedule for this feature request mid May.
In the meantime, you can also use a workaround to bulk apply templates to tasks, which is to
- Create a checkbox custom field.
- Create an automation that triggers based on that checkbox to apply a task template.
- Use the bulk action toolbar to set the checkbox and kickoff automations to apply the task template.

you can select multiple tasks and apply things like tags or status, but you cannot bulk apply a template. This feels like such a natural add, I would use this all the time.

Ability to apply multiple templates to a task at once

[from Support] The “use template” option does not allow me to select several templates to be added one after the other [...] and I need to do it manually which is kind of painful.

I'd like to be able to apply the same template (with same dates) to multiple tasks at once.

Hi Everyone, I'm curious if introducing a feature that allows you to apply a template using the Bulk Action Toolbar would meet your needs?

Lily Chan That would work for me.

Lily Chan Yes, bulk action toolbar could work. Another option is to have the template centre open, choose a template that you want to use and then be presented with the select boxes next to the hierarchy, so that you can select one or multiple places you would like to apply the template in one shot. Both options would be awesome! Either way will work.

I think this can be an easy to implement feature.
The problem is that if I have more than one template to apply to whatever (folder, task, list) I have to navigate to the template center:
Click on 3 dots > Templates > Browse Templates > Select The type > Click on the template > Click "Use Template"
There could be a checkbox option where I can select multiple templates and click Apply Once.
As a workaround. Instead of "Use Template", you could have an option to "Apply Template" and keeo keep the Template Center open.

I need to apply some recurrence settings to multiple task (same start \ end dates and also all the same recurrence options to trigger like frequency, status, periodicity, etc.). do it manually on dozens of task is totally a waste of time, it should be a default embedded feature !

This is super important, and a significant workflow/admin oversight. It would be a huge win and boost of confidence in this tool if this could be prioritized as a feature.

I have a lot of the same recurring tasks in different lists, it would be very helpful to make a change to them all at once.

Tobias Heller
Very important! Waiting for this since years
