Baseline Should Preserve Original Planned Dates and Compare Them with Actual Dates
Sunny See
The current Baseline implementation does not align with standard project management practices. A baseline should represent the approved project schedule and remain unchanged throughout the project lifecycle. Actual Start and Actual Due Dates should be maintained separately and updated as work progresses.
ClickUp should automatically compare the baseline dates with the latest actual dates to calculate schedule variance, delay, and duration differences. Both the baseline and actual schedule should be visible simultaneously in the Gantt view and reflected in List view reporting.
This would eliminate the need to repeatedly create new baselines whenever task dates change and would make the Baseline feature significantly more practical for managing real-world projects.
