Automatically Assign View Only Permissions
Alex Marshall
When creating a new space, list, goal, etc. All members of my organization are given Edit Permissions automatically. We have a lot of members of the org so it would require a lot of time to change each one to View Only. I would like a setting where I can set up all members to automatically be assigned View Only access rather than Edit access. An alternative would be to allow Teams to be shown in Permissions so I can give Edit access to my Team only and not the entire Organization/Workspace members.

Hey everyone! We recently introduced Default location permissions to prevent new members from automatically getting Full Edit access to all public items when they join a Workspace. Here’s the article: https://help.clickup.com/hc/en-us/articles/31233419651607-Set-permissions-on-individual-locations
I think this should address several of the points raised here, but let me know what else you’re looking for and I’m happy to help.

We also struggle with this exact issue in our environment. When Members add invite someone into the system or invite an existing View Only member into a task / list / etc., the View Only member is being "upgraded" to a billable user. This makes it very difficult to perform User Access Management for our system admin.

Yes this please! I have no way to ensure view-only users stay as view-only.

Yes! This PLEASE! I manage a workspace of 350 users and because the permissions default to Full instead of View Only, I have to make every space in our org private and add back in permissions for which team can edit it. It is very problematic because it leads to conflicting permissions.
