Auto-Follow on @Mentions Causing Notification Fatigue
Joe Slatter
I’m writing to express concern about the recent changes to the auto-follow behavior when users are @mentioned in task comments. Since this update, I am automatically added as a follower to any task where I’m mentioned, which has significantly increased the number of notifications I receive.
This has led to serious notification fatigue, as I am frequently mentioned across many tasks and projects. While I understand the intention may have been to keep users informed, the result is that my notification feed is now overwhelmed with updates for tasks that may not require my ongoing attention.
I have reviewed the available settings, including the “Auto follow tasks I am involved in” toggle, but it does not appear to control auto-following specifically for mentions in comments. If there is a new setting to disable this, it is not clearly documented or available in my workspace.
I urge the product team to consider the impact of this change and to provide a clear, user-controlled option to disable auto-following when mentioned in comments. Notification management is critical for productivity, and this change has made it much harder to stay focused.
Thank you for your attention to this issue. I look forward to your response and any guidance you can provide.

Please don't tell me to unfollow each one. I realize this is technically an option. It is not a practical option.
