Easier ways to assign tasks to yourself.
- Auto-assign all task depending on conditions. (i.e. all tasks on a personal board gets assigned to yourself automatically)
- Shortcut (i.e. press spacebar to assign task to yourself)

Is there any way to turn this off? I work alone and was using task assignments to myself to designate Next Actions. Now everything is a Next Action. Surely there is an off-switch and I'm just not finding it.

Selena Njegovan: No. I left Clickup for Ora. It's not as full featured, but at least the developers don't assume we want every task we add assigned to ourselves.

J K: Hello. I have found a simple workaround. Go into Workspace Settings (not Space settings) and turn OFF "Personal Workspace Layout." After I did this, it no longer defaults to assigning tasks to me, even though I am the only user in my workspace. All newly created tasks are unassigned. I hope this helps.

Has there been any update on this? It would be great to auto-assign all tasks to ones-self, or have a way to easily filter out other people's tasks. Has anyone found solutions to this?

Agree that it would be nice to be able to select auto assign to self depending on the work space. I have a small company so 95% of tasks are self assigned

We heard ya! Now you can hover over a task and type "m" to instantly assign (and unassign) to yourself.

Would be great also to have new task created auto-assigned to the creator (while window for new task opened, not after creation). As an optional option in setting. And I don't mean to use ClickUp as a personal mode, we are two in my team. It's small but it's a team :)

Zeb: Is there any way to do this in bulk? While I'd prefer to have just every task auto-assigned to me (I'm using ClickUp just for my personal tasks), I'm okay with just occasionally finding all the unassigned tasks and then bulk-assigning them to me.

EDITED TO ADD: Ah, I can do this in list view using the filter option. :) I'd still love an auto-assign-to-me option per space, though!

Zeb: I think I saw this on Trello: when you press spacebar, the task under the mouse cursor is assigned to self (-> hover over the task and hit space to assign to self)
Maybe that's what the original comment was about..

Pablo Luchinetti: Better yet, how about the first recommendation of having tasks auto-assign to self for private boards. Would save so much time. This could even be toggled on and off in the ClickApps.

@Zeb: I was envisioning a profile setting that would be "Auto Assign Task to Me" - when checked, any time you create a new task it is auto assigned to yourself.

Zeb: What about adding an option in each Space or Project (or both) that lets you set the default person that all tasks will automatically be assigned to?
The reason I (and I'm assuming others) are interested in this option is because in my particular case, I am using ClickUp for personal use only, so there's nobody else to assign tasks to in the first place.
Therefore, it would be useful if it could just auto-assign every task to me.

Zeb: If I create a space that is private, for the intention of tracking just my own to-do list, I would like any task I create in that space (any project, any list) as assigned to me automatically, when the task is saved. I don't want to enable personal mode, because I also interact with other spaces. But as I run down and quickly capture to-do item just for me in my own private space, that space should have an option for default assignee. I think, anyway...

Zeb: hey Zeb, I have actually switched to personal projects after starting off as team projects. On the desktop client whenever I create a new task I'll automatically assigned - that's perfect; however the inconsistency lies on the iOS app where it remains unassigned for new task created. Is it the right behavior?

No, this feature is not “complete”!
For me the +1 vote was for the keyboard shortcut in overviews. Like hovering over a task and press space to assign to self.
Clicking the assigned-to bubble and select yourself takes quite some accuracy and is therefore slow.
