Would it be possible to add an option to form submission settings that sets the task type of the new form submissions?

I realize that I could create a new template and use the necessary task type inside the template, but for my use case that seems like more work and maintenance than just applying a task type.

I have set different custom fields based on task type in a list for one team. They receive different types of requests and it is more convenient for them to have one place to view all their work instead of several lists. The only thing that changes with each submission that comes in is the task type and custom fields.
