Allow task relationships within same list

I absolutely love the new task relationship feature...it currently allows me to select tasks from a different list, but I would love to be able to also select tasks from the SAME list!

Relationship field doesn't allow selection of tasks in the current list

I have a use case in which I only want tasks in the current list to be possible in a relationship field.
This is apparently not allowed:
Selecting only the current list as the specific list when creating the field isn't allowed.
This forced me to select all lists in the workspace. However, none of the tasks in the current list show up in the dropdown.
In my scenario, I'm using a list for contacts (Simple CRM for list template).

Relationship in between Tasks of the same List

Not workspace wide, and not with another list.
Just show me the tasks in the same list so I can create links like that.
Workflow:
CRM Field in People List: "Referred By" to capture who introduced XYZ person to me.

Yes !
We don't need to have the all workspace link to it...
I tried to make a work around creating a list in which the tasks where automatically added to, as reference for my relationship in the main list but it didn't find tasks at all!

Relationships: add relationship from specific list, but allow SAME list as a choice

I have an email calendar, and I want to relate other emails to each other that are part of the same campaign.
But I don't want to see ALL tasks in our workspace. Just want to see tasks in the same list so it's easy to find what you're looking for.

Enable Relationships between tasks in the same list

This used to be possible, the only problem I can potentially see with this is self-referencial relationships, which are extremely easy to avoid [if task_id==task_id dontshow()].
The simplest use case I can think of, is if you have a list "stakeholders" and you want a "reports to" relationship.
Subtasks are often not suitable since they are treated as second-class citizens in ClickUp.

Relationships to same list

I am building a content calendar in a list and want to use the relationships with rollup fields to mark related episodes ("tasks"). I cannot build a relationship inside my existing list though and if I do not confine to the list I cannot use my custom fields as roll-ups. That's the whole point though: To see at a glance which episode is related but also it's number and when it went on air (both custom fields).

When adding a task relationship, the dropdown should include items in the current list. Toggle between Current List/Recent/Search. If on Current List, display Current List. If on Recent, display Recent...

I need to create a relationship with the same list and I can't, why block that? could unlock this urgent possibility.

especially now on clickup 3.0 when a task can be inventory, person, or customer. I want to have a field to select it for the relevant list.
it could be a dropdown or as linked task, but with configuration of the source list

I agree with this. In my case (Experimentation) I want an Experiment to potentially be linked to previous iterations within the same list without having to search across my entire collection of hundreds of tasks
