It would be extremely helpful to have the ability to apply different visual themes to different areas of ClickUp, such as Chat and Project Management, or alternatively, to configure separate themes for the Desktop App and Browser experience.
As ClickUp continues to consolidate communication, project management, documentation, and meetings into a single platform, users frequently switch between different types of work throughout the day. Providing visual differentiation between these work modes would make navigation more intuitive and reduce cognitive load.
Example Use Case:
* Chat = Dark Mode
* Projects/Tasks = Light Mode
Or:
* Desktop App = Dark Mode
* Browser = Light Mode
This would provide an immediate visual cue indicating whether a user is currently focused on communication or project execution.
Benefits:
* Creates clear visual separation between communication and project work
* Reduces context-switching fatigue
* Helps users orient themselves more quickly when moving between different work modes
* Improves focus and workflow efficiency
* Supports individual productivity preferences
* Enhances the overall user experience for teams that rely heavily on both ClickUp Chat and Project Management
Ideal Functionality:
* Theme settings by ClickUp module (Chat, Projects, Docs, Inbox, etc.)
* Theme settings by application (Desktop vs. Browser)
* Workspace-level defaults with user-level customization
* Support for Light, Dark, and future theme options
Today, all areas of ClickUp share the same visual appearance, making it difficult to immediately distinguish between communication-focused activities and project-focused work. Allowing different themes or visual modes would create a more intuitive experience and help users transition between workflows more effectively.
For example, I use Projects primarily in my browser and Chat primarily in the desktop application. Being able to assign different themes to each environment would provide an immediate visual indicator of where I am working and what type of activity I am engaged in.
