Allow adding "formula" custom field type to multiple locations
Rüdiger Biebl
Situation: Currently, there is no option to add a formula (custom field) to different locations (lists e.g.). The only way is to dublicate the formula in the new location.
Solution: Formula custom fields should be allowed to be added to different locations in the custom field manager.

I had a formula field sitting on it's own happily just doing it's job where it was. Then a teammate caught wind of this helpful formula...long story short, we've made something that needs to be rolled out to multiple lists in our workspace (because the field is very helpful for all these lists) But it's going to be a pain to do this roll out. Caroline Ginty pease help get this on the roadmap

Angus Innes Thanks for the tag! Do your multiple lists live in the same Folder or Space? If so, as a workaround you can recreate (copy/paste) the Formula on the Folder or Space level to make it available in all the desired lists. You could even do so on the Workspace level, but then that Formula would be available everywhere, which may not be what you're looking for. I know this is a workaround, but trying to see if we can get you unblocked short term. Cheers!

Caroline Ginty Thanks so much for the suggestion, it will work for half of the job. The other half won't be great because of the field existing on tasks far more widespread than where it's needed. But I appreciate your help!

Ability to re-use Formula Custom Fields from the Custom Field Library

Formula Custom Fields don’t appear in the "Use field from library" feature where you can re-use existing Custom Fields in another Space/Folder/List.

Great importance and added value: cross-task field referencing. ClickUp can be seen as a spreadsheet where I store flat tables, such as the real use case where I need to pass table A and B as lists with separate tasks, where list A includes tasks of type A that relate to some tasks in list B. As in Excel, it is useful to use cross-references, in this case I only need to view the data from table A to use in the operation of list B, both being customized fields for each list, and therefore, independent in each list. Given the workflow, I require that this be maintained and I minimize the manual entry of information because several values will be populated and calculated automatically.

Caroline Ginty how can we access this other post 'Share Formula Custom Fields Across Locations'? Can you put a link here?
Caroline Ginty
Sarah Wyatt It was merged into this request, as they are one and the same, so the link now goes to this request.

I'm going to merge this into our larger task for enabling formulas support in multiple locations as well.

Thanks for this feedback Jessica Lee! While Formulas aren't supported in multiple locations today, you can create a Formula at the Folder, Space, or Workspace level if you want it to be available for all lists/tasks inside the given Folder, Space, etc.

Upvote! I use a custom formula to calculate an earnings column (hours tracked x. hourly rate), which I pull into a dashboard so I can easily view running totals for the project. My idea was to have a high-level client dashboard to pull in all project totals, but now that I've configured each list and tested it, even though each list is checked in the data column, the calculations don't happen. The problem is that, because the custom formula is newly created for each list, the drop-down for the "measure" field shows each of these instances, and you can only select one. Too bad, this was an exciting possibility!

Add formula across several lists (like any custom field)

Why isn't it possible to have a formula across several fields?
it can't be duplicated or add to another list. Even a duplicated list doesn't keep it...
It has to be done manually everytime... So tedious !
