Admin visibility to private spaces, folders, lists, views
Shawn
Can we have Workspace Owner and Admins visiblity to private spaces, folders, lists?
It does not make sense the private space / list owners need to always need to add the Admins so they can run compliance auditing.

Hi everyone - just wanted to let everyone know, for those on the Enterprise plan, we do offer a Workspace setting that allows Admins to view and manage private Spaces, including taking ownership of Spaces that become inaccessible when the owner leaves the Workspace. You can read more details here: https://help.clickup.com/hc/en-us/articles/6309213140375-Configure-advanced-Workspace-security-permissions#h_01HQWK24NK2T5GJ0KGJ0ETTMA2 I know this is not a complete solve for the ask here, which is why I'm leaving this feature request open, but I wanted to highlight for anyone who may not have seen this functionality. Thanks!

At the very least, being able to see the NAMES of private spaces as an admin on the
business
plans should be allowed. We just had an issue where a space creator "accidentally" set a space to private, and even the admins didn't know which person with a private space they needed to connect with to fix it: all that is visible is a list of inaccessible spaces.James Hogg
Caroline Ginty you have your January note pinned, but this does not assist in the slightest, so not even a suggestion as even taking ownership of a Space does not help. We have Spaces where users have made private tasks and thus NO OWNER VISIBILITY of a task in their space. Owner infers they should be able to see everything in the Space.
Similarly I am the WorkSpace Owner yet I cannot see tasks being generated in my Workspace. We now also have duplicate lists as someone without visibility of a List created a mirror list for themselves. ClickUp just becomes as everyone is empowered to Create Lists and Tasks and change privacy, yet noone is empowered to manage this.
Why cannot ClickUp not resolve this visibility issue that makes using ClickUp so stressful for businesses. We can't even offboard users without taking over their accounts to check tasks to ensure no ORPHANED TASKS. I am now being challenged by your team to PAY FOR NON CURRENT USERS as we cannot offboard them seamlessly.

It's amazing how directly / bluntly people want to bypass a function for private content. There is a vast number of content that is not intended, among other things, for admins (e.g. employment contracts, salary details, strictly confidential/ classified data, company strategy aso.).
Admins should be able to know in case of legitimate interest (i.e. not at all times) about ALL content in a workspace, but of course they should not be allowed to access data marked as private without knowledge of the affected owner. Such "rioting" for godmode for Admins can imho only come from countries with non-existent or limited data protection.

Timo there has to be someone who has visibility of Spaces. This does not have to be a single Admin who has visibility of everything, but Space Owner should have visibility of everything in their Space and Managers should have visibility of all tasks for their direct reports. Any other method of siloing and purporting things as Private is non-sense in a business context.

James Hogg James, I agree.
From the perspective of a business with particularly sensitive IP, in many cases the need for confidentiality is crucial though. But of course, the “poison cabinet” is usually kept in a different place from all other company data -so def. and better not handled in sth. like clickup.

Continues to be an issue that makes ClickUp not Enterprise ready. Really not business ready for any business of any size.
Another complaint this week from customer because a task was hidden from most of the team and couldn't support it getting done.
Does ClickUp intentially create silos of its own information hidden from the team?
At least give us a Workspace API endpoint that authenticates and allows us full visibility/control of the Workspace.

It's creating internal issues on our side as well! We need to be able to prevent users from creatings private folders and lists in spaces, and now as an admin I cannot see if people created private things...

As a company tool... all information stored in the company space should be accessible by Admin to be able to provide support, auditing and compliance needs.

Good morning,
I am facing the same administration issues that the other people indicated on this request. The tools must be fully manageable because users are not intended to manage this type of subject. Currently there is no administration console available, so it is complicated to correct access rights problems on folders, lists... and also to find the owner of a resource to which we do not have access or visibility.
Can you quickly integrate this feature into your next deliveries?
Thanks in advance

Does this even make sense. The OWNER of a Space can be blocked from viewing Lists and Tasks in their Space that they are meant to own. Surely ClickUp leadership has worked in businesses before and understand the need for Compliance and Oversight. Every other day I have to pull my hair out that we didn't do better due diligence that ClickUp is just not ready for business use.

I find it fundamental and essential that the account owner has full access to all spaces, folders, lists, and tasks of all members. Otherwise, there is no one who has control over everything happening in the workspace. In my case, this issue arose because I need to change the access level of a limited member to read-only, but I am unable to do so because I don’t have access to the folder he's assigned to. As a result, ClickUp support advised me to ask the folder creator to make the change......

Hi Caroline Ginty - this still allows members to create and control private folders in these spaces so that's not a solution
