Add Placeholders / Fields to TO / CC / BCC Field in E-Mail Automations

Julian Pustkuchen
Since "See Sender Addresses for Tasks & Comments Created via Email" has been finished yesterday (HOOORAAAY!!! :D), the only thing stopping us from creating a very flexible Ticket System with Clickup is the missing option to use Placeholders on ClickUp E-Mail Automations recipients. Currently only static text is possible (but sadly not helpful for that).
Please try to create an automatic reply to received E-Mails with Automations like "Thank you for your Ticket, we're working on it". I think it's not possible due to this missing variables! :(
It would work as the placeholders available for the Text would be available as TO / CC / BCC recipients. Currently, only hard coded text is possible.
To improve this in General, I think for E-Mail TO / CC / BCC Automation fields you'd need to be able to select multiple of the following (as multi recipients):
- Creator E-Mail (as may be from an outside Mail Address)
- Watchers
- Assignees
- Custom E-Mail Field
- ...?
Same should also be available in the texts. And please ensure it works for incoming emails from outside.
Would be cool to have this simple but important improvement soon to be able to finish the ClickUp Ticket System :)
Thanks a lot!

This would be most helpful, as we use email for our helpdesk and currently this is the deciding factor for us in choosing clickup as our pm / support system.

To be able to create and automation to send a confirmation email once a form is submitted would be phenomenal. The submitter looses out on the ability to stay informed and engaged with items they have requested through forms and think their submission goes into outer space. If they could simply get a confirmation email with details that they entered into the form, they can help facilitate and keep track of their own submission rather than keep checking with Marketing for items.

Yes this would be a great feature to have custom fields in standard email templates without the use of automations

I would love to see this feature!

I would love for this to go a step further, and pull information from our Active Directory users.
Manager, Department, Role, etc.
This could then be used to automate approval flows (e.g., vacation requests)
User makes a request via form:
automation emails manager the request
manager approves request
automation emails user the approval
clickup tracks their time off, updates vacation allowances, etc.

Is this in the works yet? The TO: field especially should have some dynamic options. Right now I have to manually add an email address to a custom email field on every task every time I add an assignee.
Please raise the priority of this feature as this should be a standard feature otherwise it renders automated emails semi-useless.

Brendan W any update on this? Looks like a quick win?

To state this a little differently, we need the flexibility to pull Custom Fields into the TO, CC, and BCC fields. Even if we have to type out the placeholders like <CUSTOM FIELD 1 'Client's Email'> this would be a game changer.
An example use case,
We have a form to create a task (for us this is how we track the Article we're writing). In the form, we have a Custom Field to enter an Interviewee's name. We would like to automate an email that let's the Interviewee know that the Task (for us this is an Article) is now being worked on. The Interviewee changes with each article, so it won't be much of an automation if we have to change it each time.
Looking forward to when this is available! 🙌

Exactly. We should be able to fill in the TO, CC, etc with Creator email.

Having assignees/ watchers in CC, BCC will be a great feature. I have gone a length to create a custom field that captures assignee, as a workaround.
