Add Flags/Markers on Ganntt and Timeline view
Linley Rall
I'd love to be able to drop a marker/flag on the Gantt and timeline view that highlights key dates and draws a line down the whole view.
This will help highlight important dates across work, that aren't necessarily milestones.
See Product Plan as a reference.

In general, Timeline view is employed for high-level strategic planning, and the Gantt view for detailed tactical execution, the current Timeline functionality requires significant enhancements. Specifically, we request the following improvements:
- Implement markers or flags to visually highlight milestone, stage, or gate completions.
- Enable drag-and-drop dependency creation between task items, mirroring the existing functionality in the Gantt chart.
- Introduce the ability to create workstreams or phases on the left-hand side of the Timeline view, similar to the functionality found in Proggio, Monday, or Asana. You can see examples of this here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lJVnEFYtMJc&ab_channel=Proggio

Came here to request this and was surprised to see it is almost 4 years old.
Right now I use timeline view grouped by assignee to showcase where my team is working across our big bets, but without memorizing exactly when things like "content lock", "priority 1", "RC 0", "sign-off" are for every single milestone I have to use another program to track my dates.

I have 4 milestones in my project. I need to present it to the Steering Committee at the high level so they can quickly see where we were, we are and will go to next.
In ClickUp, timeline can only view day, week, and month, it must have year and zoom to fit the whole project as the Gantt chart view.
but both Timeline and Gantt views in ClickUp don't milestones provide us the option to add milestones on top or under the timeline bar. So I have to use Microsoft Project to create the timeline. Switching forward and back is wasting lots of time.
In Microsoft project, I can quickly add those 4 milestones to the Project timeline using the split view (Milestone on top and Gantt chart below)

What I do which is similar is set 5 or so milestones, all on the same date, so I can always see the important date no matter how much I vertically scroll up and down the graph

Connor Flewitt: Thanks for sharing the work around. That sounds quite intense to maintain.

Linley Rall: No probs, I have only got 2 key dates at the moment, and they dont move often so its pretty easy. If you set it in such a way that they all depended on each other then you could drag one and they would all move.

Connor Flewitt: I have sooo many key dates. I also find this a lovely way to visualise the begining and end of sprints.
