Add breadcrumbs (locations) to Inbox

Yey this Inbox is nice but you need to add a label to indicate where this task lives...its a hot mess now to try to see at quick glance which Folder/Lists/client this task (reply) in the Inbox is related to unless you click 3 times. Come on!

Yes, these need to be visable without having to click first - most of projects use the same tasks, so for example 30 odd items in the inbox just same Artwork

Any updates on adding the breadcrumbs in the inbox list - not just an inbox item view?

Its not showing root parent name

Agree this is not complete. Need to see this at a glance for ALL notifications, not once you click into one individually.
Joel Gray
I disagree that this is complete. We need the breadcrumbs to be visible in the list view without the need to click on the task to get then.
Use Case: A user has 4 tasks across multiple folders (Clients) that all have the same or very similar names. The user is planning on working on one of these tasks but cannot tell which one it is without clicking through each of them which wastes time.

Where has this landed, we just rolled out 3.0 last week and our intake tasks are not showing us breadcrumbs - has this update been rolled out?
pixojoy
Where do we add the breadcrumbs? If the update automatically added in the breadcrumbs by default, I don't see them?

pixojoy: It's only visible if you click the task. Recent feedback focusses on that, it should be also visisble below the '1315' in your example, just like it is currently in the 'Home' screen.

Ruud: Oh pfft! I should have clicked around haha Thank you for your kind feedback. Hopefully this thread here helps others who are curious too.

Im confused - the actual Inbox still lacks breadcrumbs. I need to be able to look at my full inbox, and see where each notification is coming from, BEFORE I click into the item. IE this helps me batch work by client, determine priorities etc. This improvement is still kind of useless - sorry! Thanks

We've now added breadcrumbs (locations) to Inbox when viewing your notifications!
First off, thank you for your feedback and patience as we worked to add this to Inbox. It was never intended to be missing, we've just now been able to overcome some roadblocks and launch this improvement to all of you!
You'll notice we're still not indicating if the task is a subtask, but this is in progress and launching soon as well.
Thank you again!

Brendan W: This isn't what I was expecting, which was to see breadcrumbs from the Inbox list of tasks. It's nice that the breadcrumb is there when I drill into an Inbox task, but the whole point for me is to see where the action items live at a high level.

Ruud
Chad Scott: Same, I was expecting similar style as to the current Home 'My Work' list.
Anyway, it is already an improvement. On a sidenote, I'm curious to what the new home will look like, because the inbox and home are overlapping to a certain extent. Or at least, I keep looking in both somehow to not overlook what I need to look at.

Ruud Chad Scott Thanks for your feedback! If I am understanding you correctly, you'd like to see the breadcrumbs before you click into each "row" in your Inbox - is that correct?
Ruud
Brendan W: yes! Maybe optional, but would be informative. Or space isn't that large yet, but I expect to grow quickly.

Brendan W: Correct. I would want it to be like the breadcrumbs shown in Home. In our spaces, we have projects represented as folders created from templates, and it is common to have the same named task show up in my Inbox a dozen times. Without the context of knowing which project each task belongs to, the Inbox isn't of much value to me as it stands currently.

Brendan W: Same as the others, I was surprised there are no breadcrumbs when looking at the inbox as a whole. It's taking an extra two steps to clear something in the inbox when I can't tell it's location unless I open the task pop up. Because then I have to open the task, see where it's from and its context, clear it then go back to the rest of the inbox list.

Chad Scott: Curious as to what you may think regarding breadcrumbs being available in one of these three different viewing options:
- Per 1 task on hover/mouseover
- Per 1 group of tasks on hover/mouseover
- Per all tasks by default. Toggle breadcrumbs on/off inside of layout options (cog wheel, top-right).
I ask this because I'm an advocate for less clutter, and I also enjoy information being easily available on-demand.

Chad Scott
pixojoy: I don't like Option 1 or 2, as that still requires inspection of each task or group of tasks to get the information I need. I rate that as no better than clicking them to load the task and see the existing breadcrumb. I don't want to interact with tasks to find out which tasks I need to interact with. It defeats the purpose for me.
Option 3 is the way to go.
pixojoy
Chad Scott: That's a fair take. Personally, I could settle for a toggle option on viewing breadcrumbs inside Inbox 3.0. Just as long as it's optional, I would be happy.
If they choose to make a toggle, maybe the hover feature could be active for when the toggle is disabled.

Brendan W: This is definitely not what we were looking for.
It's extremely frustrating the way ClickUp handles tasks anywhere else but the list itself. We use similar names for tasks based on the status of a video project (Draft 1, Draft 2, Final Draft etc) And each time we get a notification or see a task in the inbox or in other places, it shows 5 x draft 1, 4 x draft 2 etc but doesn't show what list they're from. There should be much more customization as to how the breadcrumbs are displayed and should be sitewide. I also think it should be possible to be much more prominent such as displaying a large header of the list (in our case the project name) and then the update below it.
Thanks!

Brendan W this post is very confusing, is this live with 3.0 or not? i still cannot see breadcrumbs from the inbox, specifically parent task names on subtasks. multiple tasks have the same subtasks created with a template, we need to be able to see in the inbox where the task is from.

So urgently needed, Inbox is useless without context to where the task lives. Had to move back to Notifications until Inbox is fixed
