Account for weekends (non-business days) when remapping due dates from template
complete
Bill Vieux
We frequently create template lists with tasks for a month's work. The due dates should be approximately the same but need to respect weekends (or ideally non-business days). Currently remapping due dates for a list results in tasks marked due on a weekend rather than an expected weekday. It would be great if it would map the due date to the first business day before the templated due date.

Hi, if don't like to make template , and i want to skip weekends how can do it ( with out create template )?!

Alot of the project management solutions (Monday, Asana, Clickup) seem to have an issue scheduling around non-business days (part-timers, vacations, weekends).
This feature is such a basic requirement I would view any solution as being broken without it, no matter how many bells or whistles they have: it's fundamental in my book.
I settled on Wrike - it has the work schedule section where you can put in the working week and other non-business days for the project (for separate users on a paid subscription), and it works it all out, as it should be.

It would be great to have a task splitted automatically during weekends, days off or holidays in Gantt and Calendar views !

The skip weekends function really isn't useful if I have a four day task, and by skipping the weekend it suddenly becomes a two day task. Per your example in the recent update notes, a task starting on a Friday and completing on a Monday without skipping weekends is a four day task. Excluding weekends as working days should remap this task to be due on Wednesday, and push subsequent dates out accordingly, but it does not. Any idea when this will be adjusted?

Nick: Thanks Nick! This is exciting. Confirming skip weekends functionality also impacts dependency adjustments vs. just remapping?
Ivan Villa
Jeremiah Chapman: Hey Jeremiah! right now the skip weekend feature mainly works by not counting any weekends in the task duration and skipping over weekends when remapping. This goes for dependant and non dependant tasks alike as long as they are in the template.
Jeremiah Chapman
Ivan Villa: Thanks Ivan! Confirming this works beyond the remapping feature in templates. For example: 1) Create a list using a template 2) Need to push a due date for a task created from template 3) Dependent tasks that are subsequently pushed also avoid weekends? (essentially, does this functionality also work after the remapped template is used?)
Ivan Villa
Jeremiah Chapman: No worries, for this task we just focused on getting it to work for templates. If the way we solved it works for users it's on our lists to circle back and improve skip weekends.
There is also a lot of requests around Holidays and custom non working days which we will have to take a look at :)

Nick: As far as I can see, this feature doesn't work. I have checked skip weekends in the template, but it makes no difference, weekends are always included. And really this is such a basic requirement, it means that Clickup is basically broken. Monday and Asana also have problems with this. Clickup has so many bells and whistles, I just can't understand why this feature wasn't built in from the start? Most bizarre! And what about vacation days? are they supposed to be put in as separate tasks? or are we all expected to work every day?

Hey Everyone! We have an update coming out in the next week or so that will make remapping dates from templates simple, including the ability to skip weekends :)

Ivan Villa: Great news! Will this functionality also be present in the Gantt view when remapping tasks with dependencies?
Tanner Byas
Ivan Villa: This is awesome! :) Will this also be the case when using due date automations (X amount of days from Trigger Date), or is that separate?
André Freire
Ivan Villa: Great news!!
Ivan Villa
Ted Webb: Hey Ted! Step one is to solve it for using a template. but if that turns out well then we can shift to doing this dynamic in gantt too. There is some interesting UX we need to solve when doing it in gantt, but we have some ideas :)

An update would be great. We are launching ClickUp on Monday and my tasks are jumping into the weekends. When I used Smartsheet for Gantt layouts they had a way to put in weekends and holidays so they were never counted in scheduling.
Pete Gombert
Any progress here. I am losing my teams commitment to using ClickUp as our project management solution. It looks like this has been in process since March - an update would be AMAZING! Thank you!

Would be good to get an update on this issue. My company has just started using Click-up and I've just found this issue. Not many projects run exactly to plan and at the moment I'm trying to build plans for a post coronavirus lockdown world, with the lockdown not having a fixed end as I slide my dates to the right a five day day suddenly becomes a 3 day task as the weekend eats two of those days. If I then don't go through and check every task I'll end up missing deadlines and letting the client down. I'd previously used Mavenlink where this was not an issue, you could even put in other none working times and holidays such as Easter and Christmas. Someone please tell me this is being addressed and an update will be out soon.

Our team is stoked for this to launch! :) We're utilizing the 'Days from Trigger Date' for adjusting due dates in automation, and we're running into the same type of issue of tasks having a due date of a weekend. This is going to be super helpful! 🙌
