The only option to summarize time tracked by a custom field is to use a time reporting card. However, if you are building a complex dashboard to look at planned work vs actual work with multiple custom cards and time reporting cards in order for a manager to filter for their team they must update each time reporting card individually. this slows down usage of the dashboard. Instead managers should be able to set a dashboard filter to view their team and date range for time worked.
