Ability to change names for standard fields
Christian Quirino
We have different names for some of the default fields. It would be nice to cosmetically change the names that are displayed without having to use custom fields when those fields already exist and have functionality inherent to them.
For example:
Assignee (we would like to call this owner). I don't care what it is behind the scenes, but for our process, being able to have these show up with names we want would be helpful. At the very least, it would be nice to have an alias of a custom field that would be put into one of the standard fields.
Also, it would be nice to rename "task":
We would like to call tasks something different to fit with our process instead of potentially confusing users with 2 sets of terminology.

In lieu of the lack of a custom date range field - it'd be very helpful to be able to repurpose the existing start and end date

I agreed! We really need this to be done.

Currently, ClickUp's standard fields have fixed names, which can sometimes limit their adaptability to different workflows. It would be extremely useful if we could customize the display names of these fields without altering their core functionality.
For example, the Due Date field might be better suited as Delivery Date, Purchase Date, or another label depending on the context of the project. However, since the field's name is fixed, we have to work around it rather than fully integrating it into our workflow.
Potential Solutions:
Custom Display Names for Standard Fields
Allow users to rename standard fields (e.g., renaming "Due Date" to "Delivery Date") while keeping their core behavior intact.
Custom Fields with Standard Field Behaviors
Enable custom fields to inherit functionalities from standard fields.
Example: Creating a "Purchase Date" field but assigning it the same behavior as "Due Date", meaning it would trigger notifications, color changes, and automation rules just like the standard field.
This would work similarly to how the People field allows selecting users and behaves like the Assignee field.
This feature would provide greater flexibility without compromising ClickUp's structured workflow. Many users manage different types of projects where field naming conventions need to align with specific processes.

I would like to rename a pre-defined field in ClickUp. For instance, I would like to change "Start Date" to "Delivery Start Date." Is this possible? Often, I find myself creating custom fields just to use a more descriptive name. The reasoning behind this request is that the general names of pre-defined fields don't accurately reflect our needs. As the admin of the portal, I frequently have to explain the purpose of these fields to users. By creating custom fields with more intuitive names, I can reduce confusion. However, the downside is that the existing pre-defined fields are then left unused. Additionally, features like the Gantt chart rely on pre-defined fields, so I can't fully leverage custom fields. As a result, the pre-defined fields are not being utilized effectively.

I'd like to change start date to review date. It's just how I use that date field.
