Hello Everyone!
We're thrilled to announce that the whiteboards hub is now fully operational! If you've been using ClickUp 3.0, chances are you've already had a taste of its convenience. But for those who are just getting started, we believe it's going to make your workflow much smoother.
With this feature, you can swiftly locate any of your whiteboards within your workspace, create new whiteboards directly from the hub, and find them with ease in your sidebar (remember to pin it for quick access).
So go ahead, take it for a spin!

Making progress. Adding sorting and filter by name next

Totally agree with the others here and I think it's important to (re-)use the same components / UX as in all other clickup areas and especially other CU Homes. Don't reinvent the wheel :)
And yes, tagging, features and location are super important!

Julian Pustkuchen: we're building it to be re-usable and flexible Julian!

Hey all!
We're working on building a Home for Whiteboards and I'd love to get your feedback on how you want it to work. Looking at the attached image:
- Does this directionally look like something that would help you out?
- What, if anything, doesn't make sense or doesn't seem useful?
Thank ya 🙏
Philipp Stracker
Zach - ClickUp: a great improvement!
- For me, the top section is not useful (me/popular/recent).
- I’d rather like to see a favorites-boards section (which every user can manually favorite).
- Also, the Whiteboard Location is an important detail that’s missing for me

Zach - ClickUp: love this, would also love tiny location description to show below the title (ie: Marketing - if it’s in the folder called “Marketing”) - also seconding the “favorites” idea above!
Brendon McCarthy
Zach - ClickUp: Good start. Seems like a lot of extra space on the long-wide list. What else can go here? Location for sure. Tags? Contributors?

Zach - ClickUp: For our team, the top section, "Popular", is not useful. We would rather have a "Shared" section. Also, in the "Docs" home, the ability to filter is extremely useful. There we can filter by tags, so I'm not sure what would be best, but filters would be useful.
Otherwise, this is a good start!

Abraham Jaimes Philipp Stracker - we'll let you hide one, some, or all of those options on top. You can show them later as well.
We'll think about the favorites idea, thank you!
Brendon McCarthy Ashley Aragona Noted on location, we're going to add this.
Thanks all!

Zach - ClickUp: you may consider to add main wb parameters filter above the list of all wb (tag, etc).
Draggable favourites/created by me and recent by edit time (to see it's been changed) seems quite handy in the top section.

Zach - ClickUp: That looks good.
What would happen if a user creates a Whiteboard off of a task? A Location information would be helpful.
I wonder what happen when you create a Whiteboard from this panel. Will a task be prompted to be selected so the whiteboard has a location?
Would there be a way to create Whiteboards without locating them in a task? (like Miro) If so, it would be cool to organize those in folders.
There could be folders for no task related whiteboards, and task related whiteboards. That would be awesome.
Thank you.

Zach - ClickUp: Great Improvement. I would like to see a classification column such as 'Tags' instead of the whitespace.

I would suggest to match as much with the Docs Home to keep some consistency in the Clickup interfaces. Maybe even leverage the existing Docs Home interface and adjust it to accommodate Whiteboards only.
---
I would convert "Created by Me" with "Favourites".
Include time updated (not just date). Just as with Docs Home. So maybe even include Last Viewed.
Include Location (behind the map name) as with Docs Home.
I would even go as far as to say I would like to see the space/folder/list structure which you can expand/collapse or create a view filter for the list so that you can quickly browse through all whiteboard beneath a certain folder or list as you would with your computers file explorer. I usually have a folder for clients and multiple lists for projects. That way you can quickly see all the whiteboards for a particular client or project (sorted on newest on top). P.S. I would also love to see this for Docs Home... because...
The Location in Docs Home is not always enough if you use structured folders. I have a list of "Contact Details" documents in folder "Documentation", however both are default sub-docs/folders under each of my Client folders. So I can never distinguish them. So option to do Full Path is a plus.
As this "Home" would be the place to either start working on a whiteboard or sharing it I would put the sharing option in here. Same as with Docs Home.

Zach - ClickUp: Hi!!
I've the Philipp Stracker oponion :)

- May be able the labels options :)
Thank you so much for this improvement!!

Thanks everyone, GREAT ideas. Lots of which, we're planning on adding as well! Stay tuned

"we'll let you hide one, some, or all of those options on top. You can show them later as well."
Zach - ClickUp: It would be awesome if this would also go in to the Docs Home. Also for UI consistency.

While not a full solution, we're going to soon add the ability to see all of your Whiteboards in our Search feature. This is only a quick win, and we'll get to Whiteboards Home down the road as well!

I love this suggestion and agree 1000%! Switching between relevant whiteboards in differing sections can be a bit much while trying to add to both simultaneously.
Sean Meacher
I just now wanted to update a whiteboard, then spent 5 minutes looking for it as I couldn't remember which space it was in. They don't show up in the search results either, so some way to gather them together would be great.
Zach - ClickUp
Sean Meacher: Perfect example of why we need this added. It's on our list to get done soon!

Nick Potok & Zach - ClickUp I'm not sure if this is the perfect place to share this idea with you, but as I read this request the following pattern came to my mind, which I think could further improve ClickUps consitency for "Homes" (global and by space) in many areas:
Context:
ClickUp handles a specific kind of Second / Third Level Entities, which are not tasks, like:
- Whiteboards (& Mindmaps) [that's why I'm writing it here]
- Documents
- Embeds
- Attachments
Eventually you could also see Goals as such.
All these are useful in tasks and sometimes a level higher in spaces (as Single Entities Views).
[Currently some are only usable as single Entities Views, not in tasks, but that's something different to improve]
Problem:
In daily work you need different perspectives on these Entities:
- Typically you're just working with them in tasks, e.g. creating or referencing Documents, Attachments, ... - SOLVED
- You want to list or search all these Entities within a space, for example looking for all documents uploaded for a customer-space - PARTIALLY SOLVED (only for tasks as Lists / Cards, ... in the Spaces Tabs (Views))
- You want to list all Entities you have access to, for example documents created by you or shared with you globally - PARTIALLY SOLVED (only for Documents and Goals in the left sidebar. Docs already has view modes to select, which is also perfect!)
What's missing is a clear and consistent top-down concept for this, but you've already started that with the Documents section on the left sidebar!
Proposed solution:
- Point 1 is already solved nearly perfect. As soon as you're able to create Whiteboards within tasks and link them, like the other Entities, it's PERFECT :)
- Point 2 requires the same logic in Space > "+View" as it already exists for tasks, but allow to add a tab with a LIST of these items by type, not only allow to add a single Entitiy (like currently for Whiteboard, Doc, Form, ... which might be kept, but as a single Entity reference for very important Entities to the space)
- Point 3 requires generalization of what you already did for "Docs" in left sidebar, but for all these Entity by type in global. Listing all Entities the user has access to, showing their most important details and and locations, independent from space. The left sidebar is the perfect place for that already!
The list used in (3) could be the same as in (2) but without the filter on current space, that should save you some work and also provide consistency! :)
I'd be very happy, if you could discuss these ideas with the team in terms of "Whiteboards Home" as start for a general, consistent UX.
Feel free to copy this over to a separate issue, if it make sense for you! :)
Should you have any further questions, feel free to contact me.
And I'd be very very happy about a reply what you think about it.
Julian Pustkuchen
PS: I forgot to mention "Time Tracking" in the list which I'd also count as Entity and which would make a lot of sense to follow this concept!
Having a page for all time trackings (global) and the option to show a list per space / folder with all useful functionality like filtering, sorting, exporting, bulk edit, etc. would fit perfectly into the concept and solve many current UX problems!

Julian Pustkuchen: There are various teams that will be involved in the larger "Home" task where Whiteboards will also live. I'll make sure we keep your comment above in mind for our discussions as it's very carefully thought through. Thank you SO much for your feedback!

Zach - ClickUp: Thank you very very much for your positive feedback. It's just some ideas from the users perspective and high daily use. :)
However you solve it, I'm sure it will be great! And if some of my ideas help, I'd be quite proud!
