Let us directly dictate into a text field system wide (Windows, Mac, Android etc)
I have Windows and Android and know this would be hell of a timesaver to directly dictate to text without additional steps of copying and pasting.

We made a lot of improvements and this should be fixed. Please restart your app to update and let us know if you still experience issues

You should already be able to do that. Focus your cursor on any text field on your Windows or macOS machine, transcribe using the hotkey, and it will paste where your cursor is.
Please let us know how it goes :)

Simon Choi Hi Simon, yes you are correct. it does work on my windows laptop but I noticed it is quite unreliable.
Sometimes it does, sometimes it does not even start.
Also it is quite slow.
Moreover Fn button does not initiate this for my laptop (Alienware 17R5).

Simon Choi I am actually finding this a relatively annoying feature.
I often want to say something to Brain Max (e.g., tell it to create a Task, or record something else like a long rambling message for an email I just thought of), only to find it paste what I said in to another app.
It already copies the text to clipboard, so I would rather then manually paste it in to another app if I need to.
I am expecting it to do what I ask, not paste in to another program.
Most of the time, I am not using it to dictate anything, let alone want to put it in to another app.
Plus, Windows, Mac, and Android ALL have native dictation for this anyway.

Guy Mannerings: The point of this feature is to have really powerful dictation that is accurate, polished, and fast. If you compare it to something like the built in dictation you'll see that it will even turn rambling into great output.
We are working on a separate feature that allows you to take action with your voice. I assume that is what you are looking for :)

Simon Choi Funny you dropped that message just then, as I was thinking about this more after I wrote my last message.
It is a useful feature. I was probably too quick to say otherwise! I just think that it would be useful to be able to dictate actions whilst you are in another program. But that doesn't mean you should lose this feature.
I wonder if the setup should be one button combination for dictation and another button combination for actions.
That way, the system knows you want it to perform an action vs simply dictating in to the current program + copying to clipboard.

Simon Choi By the way, re: accuracy. Does it learn our voice over time, so it becomes more accurate?
Also, are our voice notes shared with LLMs for their own training, or are they kept private?
S
Simon Choi
Guy Mannerings: Yeah exactly we're prototyping a few different solution and test which one feels most natural to use
Guy Mannerings
Simon Choi Nice!
Did you see question about voice notes going to LLMs for training?
S
Simon Choi
Guy Mannerings: We never ever share data with LLM providers and we prohibit them on training with out user's data (including Talk to Text data)

Simon Choi Great! Thank you!
