Brain MAX "Talk to text" on Macbook Air M3 with external mic not working
Leonardo Plebani
I'm testing the desktop app for MacBook Air M3 where I have connected:
- 1 external mic (Elgato Wave 3)
- 2 external monitor
When I have the MacBook monitor open and 1 external monitor, the “Talk to text” function in Brain MAX works.
The microphone picks up my voice. In the system setting, I see the Elgato Wave 3 is active.
When I close the MacBook monitor and only have the 2 external monitors, the microphone doesn't work.
In the system settings, I see the Elgato Wave 3 is active but the microphone doesn't pick up my voice.
Any idea why?

Currently Brain MAX uses your default microphone. Please double check your external mic is set as the default input in the system settings.
I have the same mic and it works well 🙂
We’re also planning to have a custom microphone selection that is independent of the system default.

Simon Choi Thanks for getting back to me.
I found the issues:
I was checking in System Settings -> Accessibility -> Microphone.
I had to check in System Settings -> Sound -> Sound Input.
Works now! Thanks
