Usage by guests

As a retailer using clickup for management only, we have a few business plus accounts and lots of options to add guests. Most retail staff do not need clickup as it is overkill for their purposes, so we use the free version of Slack for quick communications. It would be great if we could get all of them into using clickup chat instead and thus ease them slowly into seeing the advantages of it for other purposes.

Guest Access to the Chat Work Feature
PEDRO ITALLO
Dear ClickUp team,
First of all, congratulations on the launch of the new “chat work” feature. This feature has the potential to significantly improve communication and collaboration within teams.
However, as a frequent user of the platform, I would like to suggest an improvement that I consider essential to ensure the success of this feature: allowing external and internal guests access to chat work. In many projects, not all collaborators are active members of the ClickUp team. We have partners, freelancers and clients who need to participate directly in communications, and the current limitation preventing the inclusion of these guests in chat work creates a significant barrier.
Why this is important:
Many competitors such as Slack and Microsoft Teams already offer this functionality.
Guests play key roles in various projects and their inclusion in chat work would facilitate communication without the need to resort to external tools.
With the flexibility to include guests, ClickUp can consolidate itself as a central tool, eliminating the need for multiple communication systems for different collaborators.
I hope that this suggestion will be considered to further improve the platform and make it more competitive in the market.
Sincerely, Pedro

Just wanted to add a note – I was testing on mobile (iOS) today and was able to tag and DM guests in chat. When I went back to desktop, those guest DMs were available, but it doesn't seem you can start a new guest DM on desktop.

@Vince Amatuzzi guests aren't supported right now but it's coming soon. Going to merge this with the feature request for that 😊

Thanks Dean Phillips! I saw this post but wasn't sure if this was just specific to adding new guests to chat, or about enabling access for pre-existing guests. Thrilled to hear this is planned.

adding guests would be MAJOR and make the new chat fully functional for a lot of people (myself included!)

As a consulting team we manage project deliveries in ClickUp where clients are invited (as guests) and we manage the whole delivery with them within the tool, plus dashboards, etc. It would be amazing to be able to add them to chat on the specific project.
