Replies to messages in the chat are very poorly visible. Much more convenient and readable seems to be the way known from other instant messengers where each response appears as another message in the chat.

Having a full thread of replies to a given message can be convenient and useful independently once you move into the appropriate context (as it is now). On the other hand, when it comes to the notification itself and to realize that there have been new answers, the current solution is of little use.
