One Click Task/Assigned Comment creation from messages in chat

Right now it takes more than a few clicks to assign a comment to someone and to create a task from a comment on the new ClickUp chat ( both on mobile and desktop ). But to make working seamless, we shud have the ability to click a button next to chat message and convert it into a task or assigned comment. The button shud be separate for creation of task and separate for creation of assigned comment. And in some cases the comment / task shud be auto assigned to the person with whom we are doing direct chat / or there shud be a way to figure out by ai whom to auto assign the task / comment or some default option in settings and this shud become a single click feature.

We are usually doing this due to Assigned Comments are needing a Due date so can fit into a required flow.
When we create a Task it is isolated from the Comment and parent tasks. Thus very clunky as we complete Task and then have to Resolve the Comment too.
Often these are not needing the entirity of a separated Task with separate Activity and linkageds. Are you building something for Sub Action Tasks, so we can embed workflow tasks like calling a client, sending an email or some other mundaine action that has Actioner and Due Dates, but we want the Activity, Documents and other items to be together rolled up in the parent task?

Hi Brendan W Will this 'IN PROGRESS" include having a place to view all our team members assigned comments (or at least the ones I have assigned!) Currently i am having to select one team member at a time in followups to see what comments I have assigned. Surely we should have an option in followups to see all comments assigned and filter as required?! Thanks!
Brendan W
Tim Jasper Not this directly but we are working on a way to see who you delegated comments to as part of ClickUp 4.0!

Brendan W Fast forward to now (01/08/2026) and ClickUp 4.0 is released. Guess what didn't get updated... again. The card on Home dashboard that says "Assigned Comments". You know the one. It has the same exact name as the 4.0 sidebar icon but only the sidebar shows assigned comments and assigned chats. Whereas the card on the Home dashboard only shows assigned comments... no chats. And the "coolest" part of all this is there is no card to show assigned chats. Support informed me this is working as intended and if I want to see assigned chats I should just use the icon on the sidebar. Yeah that's the solution, because clicking icons back and forth is DEFINITELY better than seeing it all on one screen on a dashboard 🙄. This has been broken since chat was introduced and no one has cared to fix it. Apparently updating key UI elements you forgot to update is a "feature request".

Matthew Burt Hi Matthew
You can filter the Assigned Comments page in the Home sidebar of 4.0 to funnel down to just seeing comments assigned to you (or others) from tasks or from Channels/DMs (Chat).
Is this what you are looking for?
Brendan W
Matthew Burt Additionally, the card on My Tasks (old Home) in 4.0 will not be updated at this time. Consider it a legacy card, and the Assigned Comments page is the one-stop place to view your assigned comments!

Brendan W this actually makes the issue more obvious.
ClickUp renamed “Home” to “My Tasks,” which strongly implies this is now the place where I should be able to see everything assigned to me.
But I still can’t.
Assigned chats do not appear anywhere on the My Tasks dashboard. The “Assigned Comments” card still only shows comments, not chats. The only way to see assigned chats is to leave My Tasks entirely and click the sidebar.
This is despite the fact that ClickUp explicitly allows users to customize the dashboard by showing or hiding cards so they can see everything they need to work on in one place.
So now we have a screen literally titled “My Tasks” that does not show all of my tasks.
Even worse, there are two things called “Assigned Comments” that show different data. The sidebar version includes chats. The dashboard card does not. Same name, different behavior.
The data exists. The UI exists. The feature exists. It’s just arbitrarily excluded from the one screen that’s supposed to be my consolidated work view.
At this point the UX message is basically: “Customize your task dashboard — just don’t expect it to actually show everything assigned to you.”
This isn’t a feature request. It’s a fundamental mismatch between naming, intent, and behavior that survived a major version release.

Matthew Burt: Hey Matthew! I definitely hear your concerns and feedback, and I understand that the current Assigned Comments card is where you'd prefer to see everything.
Unfortunately, thats not today's state but we do have plans to improve this in the future (including improving My Tasks and having all your "to-do" like action items in one place).
I'd love to chat with you in a month or two about your workflows and how you use ClickUp!

Brendan W appreciate you acknowledging there are plans to improve this. That’s the first time I’ve heard anything other than “use the sidebar, working as intended.”
To be very clear: I don’t care about the Assigned Comments card specifically. I care that “My Tasks” is positioned as the consolidated place to see what I need to do, but it still can’t surface all assigned action items (especially assigned chats).
And I get why you can’t just dump assigned chats/comments into the My Work card: that view is date-driven (today/overdue/next). If assigned items don’t have due dates, they all end up in an Unscheduled pile and become useless noise. These items need their own “attention queue” view with its own sorting/importance, separate from due-date tasks.
So the solution can’t be “just use the sidebar,” and it also can’t be “we just don’t show this on the My Tasks dashboard.” If My Tasks can’t show everything people are waiting on me for, then it’s not really “My Tasks.”
If the path forward isn’t updating that specific card, fine — but there still needs to be some way to surface the same Assigned Comments/Chat workload on the My Tasks dashboard in a way that remains actionable. Happy to chat through workflows if it helps.

Hey, everyone! 👋
We're looking to get some feedback from you guys on some improvements we're looking to make for assigning messages and creating tasks from messages in Chat.
