Jump to message in main feed of Channel (and make jump to date work)
building now
Garrett Moore
As far as I can see, there is no way to actually jump to a message in the original thread you find in search. All you can do is reply to it. It's often that you need to go back to the original conversation from a message you remember and in click you literally have to manually scroll back all the way to that conversation, which sometimes can be months.
(And the "jump to last month" button doesn't ever work to make this quicker")

Excited to share that we are actively working on this!
We have some technical complications to work through regarding scrolling, message seeking, and long Channels with massive amounts of messages/data, but we are hopeful to get this out to you as soon as possible!

Chat Search Results Should Bring You to That Exact Chat / Date
Eric Hauser
Currently, as far as I can tell, when a user performs a search either in a Chat channel or globally in CU, and the search result is in a Chat, clicking on that result only brings the user to that Chat channel and to the most recent message (which could be 5 min ago) - not to the actual result in the Chat string. So for example, if I chatted with John about project 1234 six months ago, and I find a result for "1234" in Search, clicking that result only takes me to my John DM chat channel - not to the mention of 1234 six months ago. The user then has to scroll back in time to find the full context. Please - just make the search result take the user to
what they searched for

Developers - I know you are working hard on it - but the lack of this feature means you really don't have a working chat function. From playing with the API, I think I understand why it's so hard to fix - it looks like you guys had to wedge chat into something that wasn't built for it. I also understand that the dev team does not usually drive business decisions...
But putting my consumer hat on - when I am getting internal advertisements now when i log in to "upgrade" to ClickUp AI features - and the basic functionality of what I already pay for really doesn't work - and enough resources evidently aren't being directed at it to make this essential component of chat work - it's leaving a bad taste in my mouth.
Is there any timeline? The reputational damage I'm taking having recommended this platform to clients who are now riding me about "this joke of a chat product" (not my words) is just not worth it if there's really no timeline for delivery.
You are going to lose clients over this.

Hey Bryan Bigari. I appreciate the feedback and you taking the time to share here on Canny!
I just posted an update to everyone, but we are actively working on this. No timeline to share yet due to some technical complications, but hopefully very soon. Thanks!

Bryan Bigari Thank you for succinctly putting this into words. It's frustrating that such a basic issue isn't being properly addressed.

Links to Specific Messages in Chat view!

It would be great if we could link a specific message (permalink) with a Chat view!
The same way you can link a specific comment within a task!

Kevin Bui Thank you! This is planned, we're hoping to be able to pick this work up soon!

Allow to click on search results take you to that spot in the chat

Not everyone replies in threads exactly, or what I'm looking for is a message or two around the one the search pulled up, but since it's not a direct reply it won't let me pull it up.

I have been using ClickUp for some time now, and the lack of this feature is dragging it down. When I know of a specific sentence that I know was said during a chat, but can't remember the answer, I search for that specific sentence, but can never get to the conversation.
I really do hope you find a way to get working back on this as I can see there are many people that need this feature.
But kudos on a very well designedClickUp piece of kit otherwise 👍well-designed

Just leaving a message here to show that the request is popular and we kinda need them. Hope you guys can resume the project.

I wanted to leave an update here for everyone!
While we were working on this in the past, it turns out it requires a very difficult refactor of many of our systems for managing scroll and threads. We paused that work to focus on ClickUp 4.0 and many other quality improvements (alongside feature development), but hope to resume this project soon.
