We would like to have a numeric badge similar to the numeric badge for Timesheets so at a glance, we can see number of unread messages.

Happy to share we've launched this improvement! (its been silently launched for a while as we did some testing)
You'll notice a badge on the Chat app in the global navigation bar, or a "dot" depending on your Chat user setting!

We shall have a numeric badge next to the ClickUp chat icon so it is clear and visible when there are pending messages.
We shall be able to pin down this ClickUp chat icon in the taskbar in order to see the number of chat messages INSTEAD of the number of overall inbox notifications.
This shall allow us to get rid of other chat functionality.

Will it be clear that the number in the Chat and the number displayed on the Home icon are different, or will the chat be included in the Home number??? Clarity or user-choice should be thought about in this regard.

Angus Innes When the Chat entry point is pinned in the global navigation, the Chat count will not be included in the Home count.
This will also be a setting for the users who do want to keep it all as part of Home!
