Enable/disable the Chat ClickApp by Space, Folder or List"

Too many channels for unwanted folders/ list. Disabling the chat in each section would be the quickest way to clean unwanted chats.

Chat: choose where it's enabled
Dave Montrose
We've just turned the chat function on, and it includes a chat room for everything. This has become immediately noisy, and risks chats for projects being lost and/or disjointed across multiple chats.
When enabling chat, please have them 'off' as standard and allow admins to choose what folder, list, etc has chat enabled, both when creating them, and through individual folder and list settings.
This will allow admins flexibility to turn on just one collaborative chat area for a project.
It would also be helpful to have an option to enable team-based chat at a folder/project-level, so each team involved in a project has one chat area, with all other list-level chats disabled.
Basically, please:
• Turn off all chat as default so it doesn't create a room for everything ever.
• Allow admins to choose what folders and lists have chat enabled.
• Think about how that might work at a team level.

At present, if you start a chat via the "chat" button in a folder or list within a space, it can only be seen at that level. This leads to messages getting lost and confusion about where to post. I would love the option to disable new-channel creation below the space level so that, when you hit the "chat" button, it defaults you to the main chat for the workspace the list or folder is in.

Created from a ticket.
Would like to have the ability to enable/disable the status progress ClickApp by Folder or List, as well as Space.

For large enterprise clients (i.e. FinServe/healthcare), there is higher regulation and chat needs to be retained for compliance reasons. It would be helpful to be able to turn off certain chat features at the account level to prevent users from using them when they are not allowed (i.e. Chat Views, List Chat).

I stopped using the Chat; limiting the history is cruel, especially on an "Unlimited Plan."

Brendan W, any updates on this? We're still waiting to switch from Slack until there's SOME level of administration on chat channels—The ability to archive/delete, or limit to only folders (not lists), or to have off by default with the ability to turn on in a location's settings—SOMETHING.
Right now, any user can accidentally click the Chat button from any Space, Folder, or List—and our whole team ends up with another chat in their list that cannot be removed.

Scott Ellis Hey Scott! The ability to delete/archive is coming very soon (there's a separate feature request for this too), and as part of ClickUp 4.0, you can already optionally choose which locations you create Channels on.
We also have more updates to permissions coming soon, letting you choose if a user can create Channels, both on a location and at the Workspace level.

Hi - Is there any update on this planned feature or release date?
Maik Busch
Super important that you can delete or at least archive channels which are linked to a folder or list.
