Delete Channels from a List/Folder/Space
building now
Alex Looper
Right now, we can manually create channels outside of a list and delete them with no problem. But when we create a channel inside a list using Channel View, there is no way to delete it.
This causes a buildup of extra channels on the backend. We can only hide them, which clutters everything, especially if a channel is created by mistake.
Please make it possible to delete channels that are created through a List → Channel View.

If Chat Channels is supposed to replace Slack, workspace admins need to have FULL CONTROL over channels. Our team doesn't use them because they're overwhelmed by the useless channels cluttering the space. This is one of the few things about ClickUp that I absolutely hate. It's also one of the most nonsensical. Should be an easy and obvious fix.

Bethanna Roland: Just updated the post status, it not being marked as in progress was a mistake - stay tuned!

Brendan W Awesome - thank you! This will be a game changer for us.

Brendan W how about a quick solution to what causes 90% of it - take away the button that causes the issue by being so prominent and encouraging every user to click on it, IMO it should be hidden under view creation. The other problem is that if someone clicks on it, it just creates the channel with no confirmation dialog whatsoever. I don't want channels for 99% of our lists and I am guessing most admins do not. So why put a button front and center that we have to make sure not to accidentally click on?
Bethanna Roland Just an FYI in case you have not already discovered it, if you take away a members rights to create public views, they can no longer create channels, which at least helps solve some of it.

Allow Space / Folder / List Chats to be removed or hidden

It's not always necessary or appropriate to have a Space-/Folder-/List-specific Chat. It would be nice to remove or hide them.

Deleting different generic chat channels

I notice every projec, list or Workspace created automatically creates chat channels but not all are necessary. So as admin, I should have the ability to remove the people from specific chat channels or even deleting the chat channels without deleting the them from from a specific Workspace

Agreed! Please allow ClickUp users/admins to DELETE "Channels" created in "Spaces", "Folders", and "Lists" ASAP! We can create and delete "Channels" created outside of these locations in the native "Chat" module but currently we can NOT delete "Channels" created in "Spaces", "Folders", and "Lists"... there is ONLY an unfollow button... This makes it VERY frustrating when an "Admin" or "User" accidentally creates a "Channel" by mistake... and then there's no way for us to delete the unwanted "Channel"... besides just "Unfollowing" it... Then other users in the workspace get confused and start using the unwanted "Channel" that was accidentally created... Please fix this feature ASAP... so our workspace does not get cluttered by infinite unwanted channels that are created by accident with no way to delete them... Thanks!

THIS ^^^^! The AI chat bot is telling me I should be able to delete them but I only have an unfollow option and I am the Admin. I created one by accident today (first day of a forced upgrade to 4.0) because the add channel button is exactly where the first pinned view of my lists used to be. Every time there's a big "upgrade" we seem to end up needing MORE clicks, not fewer.
