Allow AI Notetaker to Automatically Rejoin Restarted Meetings
Amanda Powell
Currently, when a Teams (or Zoom/Meet) meeting ends and is restarted—even if it’s the same calendar invite—the AI Notetaker does not rejoin automatically. This creates gaps in note capture during breaks or technical restarts, and forces users to manually re-invite the bot each time.
Request:
Please enhance the AI Notetaker’s auto-join logic so that if a meeting is restarted under the same calendar invite within a short time frame (e.g., within 30–60 minutes), the Notetaker will automatically rejoin without manual intervention.
Why this matters:
Reduces missed notes and lost context when meetings pause and restart.
Supports teams that take scheduled breaks in long meetings or workshops.
Improves the reliability of “set it and forget it” auto-join functionality.
Impact:
This feature would ensure more consistent meeting documentation and save users from interruptions in workflow.

My organization is experiencing something similar to what Amanda mentioned. We’re currently in a testing milestone, and some sessions run the whole day. We take breaks and have lunch, but when we come back, the bot is gone. It’s definitely frustrating — especially when we were excited to try a new feature after upgrading, only to run into this mid-testing milestone. On top of that, you can’t even add the bot back because you get an error saying “meeting bot already exist.”

Courtney Johnson Courtney, to double-check, does it mean you have smth like a day long meeting and your notetaker joins and does not stay in the meeting for the whole time? And once it fails it is impossible to re-send it even using our ad-hoc bots feature?

Alex Lashkov - Hi Alex,
Yes—this is exactly what we’re seeing.
We run day-long testing events where the notetaker joins the morning meeting without issue. We then end the meeting for a break/lunch. When we start the next segment (same day), the notetaker doesn't appear and will not rejoin—even if we re-send the invite and try the ad-hoc bots option. It just never connects to the afternoon session.
Steps we’ve tried:
Re-sending the notetaker from the meeting
Ending/restarting the meeting and re-inviting immediately
Same result each time — it won’t rejoin after that first break. We know we could spin up a new bot, but we’re trying to keep one continuous document for the entire workshop instead of splitting the notes across multiple files.

hey Amanda Powell Do you want the notetaker to create a full meeting doc for consecutive sessions, or multiple docs are fine in case of the restarted meeting?
Amanda Powell
Alex Lashkov I would need it to be in a single doc. For instance, I have a meeting set for 2 hours, and the group decides to take a break and close the meeting, but when we come back, the note-taker does not automatically rejoin.stance, I have a meeting set for 2 hours, and the group decides to take a break and close the meeting, but when we come back, the note-taker does not automatically rejoin.

Amanda Powell I see, that makes sense. Thanks!
