AI Notetaker does not work in Upwork-generated Zoom meetings (no host approval available)
Alejandro Posada
When using ClickUp AI Notetaker in Zoom meetings generated through Upwork, the notetaker joins the call but no notes, transcript, or recording are produced.
This happens because Upwork-generated Zoom meetings do not assign a visible host role. All attendees are treated as participants, and no one receives the prompt to approve recording for the AI Notetaker.
As a result:
The notetaker joins and stays in the meeting
No recording approval is triggered
No notes, transcript, or recording are generated
This makes the feature unusable for any workflow that relies on Upwork Zoom meetings (interviews, client calls through Upwork).
Expected Behavior
The AI Notetaker should be able to record and generate notes without requiring manual host approval, similar to how other tools (Fireflies) operate in the same environment.
Impact
This limitation blocks the use of ClickUp AI Notetaker for teams that rely on Upwork for scheduling and running Zoom calls, forcing us to use alternative tools.
Suggested Improvement
Allow AI Notetaker to function without host approval in cases where Zoom meetings do not expose a host role, or provide an alternative mechanism to enable recording in these scenarios.
