Reorder tasks and subtasks via the API (move to a position / before / after)

We need to set the manual order of tasks in a list, and of subtasks under a parent task, through the public API. This is actively blocking our team today.
What we tried:
- PUT /task/{task_id} with "orderindex" is accepted but ignored. The developer FAQ says tasks and subtasks no longer use order_index, although the API still returns it.
- Moving a subtask to another parent and back keeps its old position.
Our use case: we create subtasks in bulk from triaged bug reports and need them ordered by importance under the parent task. Today the only options are dragging every row by hand, or switching the subtask sort to Priority, which can't order tasks within the same priority.
Request: an API operation to position a task within its list, or a subtask within its parent. For example, POST /task/{task_id}/move with before_task_id, after_task_id, or position: "top" | "bottom", plus an optional position on Create Task. Get Task(s) and the subtasks array should return tasks in the resulting manual order.
We know this has been asked before: "add ability to change task position by changing orderindex" (Aug 2020, 11 votes) was closed in Oct 2025 as an old, inactive post, and the related checklist-ordering request is marked "Not on the roadmap". The need is very much active: it's blocking our team's ClickUp workflow right now, so we'd really appreciate it being reconsidered.
