Allow linking of gitlab issues with tasks
Victor
Right now you can only link repo branches with ClickUp tasks. We use GItLab to describe backlog issues as well, that might not be associated with a current branch. It would be nice to link those Gitlab issues directly with ClickUp tasks & subtasks

Better Gitlab integration settings view
Ambroise Maupate
We are a web agency creating lots of projects on Clickup and on Gitlab too.
We’d love to have a better Gitlab integration settings view on ClickUp for:
- Activating many Gitlab projects at once (it’s a pain is the *** to activate 30 Gitlab repositories when you begin using ClickUp)
- Automatically create a Clickup Project when creating a Gitlab repository or vice-versa
- Ability to search Gitlab projects on ClickUp interface

Hey everyone!
Tadej here, PM for integrations at ClickUp!
Thanks so much for your feedback around GitLab. We’ve heard you loud and clear: better linking, real-time visibility, and smoother workflows between GitLab and ClickUp are essential.
We’re excited to share that a brand new GitLab integration is launching in July!
What's new
Link GitLab work to ClickUp tasks
- Automatically or manually link commits, branches, merge requests, and issues to tasks
- Use ClickUp task IDs in GitLab messages to auto-associate work
See GitLab activity directly in ClickUp
- Preview GitLab links inside tasks, Docs, and Chat
- Use the GitLab app panel in tasks to view linked activity and manage everything from one place
Sync activity both ways
- Update ClickUp task statuses directly from GitLab commit messages
- Create GitLab branches, merge requests, or issues right from ClickUp tasks
Connect GitLab to Spaces
- Workspace admins can map GitLab projects to specific ClickUp Spaces
- Once connected, all task activity in that Space can reflect GitLab work
We’re also supporting both personal and workspace-level connections, so whether you’re a developer, a PM, or an admin, the integration adapts to your role.
Thanks again for helping shape this one!

We still need this in 2024. The current integration is too complex when you have 20+ Spaces and 100+ repositories. And it has some issues too:
- the single connections between spaces and repositories keep disconnecting all the time (even though the checkbox is marked) causing commits and merge requests not showing up in ClickUp tasks.
- the number of spaces showing on the right of repository name in the right panel is growing every time any changes are made (unmarking and marking spaces) – you can see how it looks in attached screenshot and please note that at the time of writing this we had only 24 spaces available (not 42, not 60 and not 85)

We are also currently using Gitlab as our backlog tool in order to have the code linked to the issues. Would be a great feature to be able to create Gitlab issues from clickup. Atm we have develop a custom solution, in order to achive this. Bot creating issues and sync comments between both appications.

Currently we do this in the most cumbersome way possible: with a custom field named "GitLab" with which each task is linked to a relevant GitLab resource. This of course means no automated closing, however it is still better than not being able to link issues, which seems to me like a fundamental missing feature for this integration to make any sense whatsoever.
Joey
Thanks for the idea! Would you want to setup the integration on mobile, or just see details inside of tasks that are linked to GitLab?

Also it would be nice to have the possibility to set a default workspace for newly added Gitlab-Repositories.
And the List of the Gitlab-Repositories already added to clickup should be searchable, filterable by workspace and sorted alphabetically.

I've implemented this via make.com (formerly Integromat). Unfortunately there seems to be no easy way to share the integration with others :-(
