Reopen subtasks when closing Recurring task
complete
Eliza Witkowska
Some recurring tasks can have subtasks/lists. Like monthly taxes/bills and so on. What would be great is if there was an option to set "reopen all subtasks/lists on close" or on whatever trigger we have. Currently we have to "unclose" subtasks when marking parent task as done. I know we can set subtask to recurring, but it would be nice if this was first inherited from parent (unless overwritten from subtask specific recurring settings)

Hey, everyone! Thanks so much for your participation on this request!
If you select the option to 'Create a new task' for your recurring task, then your subtasks will be back in the Open status when your task recurs.
We have also updated our help article on recurring tasks to include these details!

Sid Tewari: I was put as a voter on this feedback. But not sure that this will fix what we're trying to do in Clickup.
We have Parent tasks and Subtasks.
The parent tasks are scheduled to recur based on how the client pays us. For example, if they pay us monthly, the parent task will recur at the end of each month. So that there is a new task and budget at the beginning of each new month.
We use subtasks as a way to create tasks under the parent task so that any time we track on subtasks will be deducted from the parent task's monthly budget.
For example. If we have a social media client with a 2h hour monthly budget. We may have a subtask to create new posts twice a week. Let's say we set the subtask to recur every Tuesday and Thursday, so we would hit the goal of doing 2 posts a week.
Here's where the issue begins. When we set up the recurring subtasks and complete them throughout the month, when we completed the parent task each month to get the new budget, it duplicates every single "done" or "completed" subtask that was ever done. Instead of just having the one subtask to check in every Tuesday and Thursday.
Here's a video example:
I'm hoping to set something up that if the task is completed for the month, then the subtasks will reset to the original settings of the parent and not copy over every single subtask.
Each month must have fresh timers (not old-time tracked from previous months carried over, which is why we set the task to "create new task"
Please let me know if there is a way to achieve this style of workflow

I'm confused why people are asking for this feature. I've been using this for my recurring tasks with subtasks for many months and it works. Make sure that before you set up recurrence, you set up all your subtasks. Then set up recurrence ONLY at your task level. Make sure that in the settings you chose When Done and Create New Task. In the options, you'll see the subtasks. I hope this helps. Unless you use it for a different use-case scenario.

Ewa Mamro: Yes I have found this is how you get sub-tasks to repeat! It just wasn't obvious how to do it, should be in the documentation.

Ralph Stokes: i absolutely agree! Trials and errors 😊

Ewa Mamro: You mean bad documentation! That's why everyone is asking for a feature that's already there...
Even a simple FAQ section - "How to create recurring sub-tasks" would have saved me so much pain.

Looking forward to this vital functionality!

Crazy that we should have to ask for this!! So many other settings are "inherited' from the parent task, why not this?
Jessica Dion
Yes!! I need exactly this. Would definitely help with accuracy and efficiency.

Would like this option also, using a ClickUp workspace to track our patch cycle progress, the main task covers an environment with each sub task being a cluster of hardware. Main tasks are set to reset every 90 days but keep the history.
Ideally I would like the sub tasks to also perform the same action without the need for me to set them.
