Update Nov 2025: Hi everyone - this feature is one we are considering for next quarter's roadmap. It's still in pre-scoping stages, but we will share updates here as they are available. Thanks!

Hi Caroline Ginty, did this get prioritized for Q1? We keep running into problems with the limits, despite upgrading from Business Plus to Enterprise. It makes it very hard for us to be self-sufficient in managing our automations and we have to pull ClickUp Support/CSM into providing analysis reports to figure our where the issues are. It would be far more efficient for both us and ClickUp teams to have the data we need to action.

Caroline Ginty Can we have an update on this feature, please ? We need this to be more efficient !
Caroline Ginty
Julie Babin We are planning to build this feature, but haven't yet slotted it firmly into the roadmap or started the scoping and build process. I'll keep this post updated though as we get into the details and will share walk-throughs, mockups, etc as we have them available!

I'm stoked to see that Clickup is looking to implement this in their next quarter roadmap! For everyone else who needs this, in the meantime, I have made it work with Make.com. I can now carry over specific custom fields from the parent task to any newly created subtask. It has been pretty smooth overall. Difficult to implement but now works.
I hope CU gets this going so I can stop using third parties though..

Bugra Oktay You ripper!!

Bugra Oktay Please make this optional. I definitely do NOT want custom fields automatically being applied to all subtasks. It should be asked as a question when you make a subtask, or set as a user setting.

it would be great if tags were included in this - eg: subtask inherits the tags of the parent.

When I move a parent task from Backlog to Sprint Backlog — that is, the user story — the subtasks remain in Backlog, and this has a huge impact on the reports I use to track the team’s workload points. The sum of the points from these subtasks in Backlog isn’t counted; only the points entered directly in the parent task are considered, which isn’t how we assign points. How is this not solved yet?

Please, this is very helpful for creating an automation and the action is send a channel message.

Also raising my hand to say this is much needed.
