Item/Task Description in 'List & Table View'.

Ideally it would be very helpful & more productive to have the ability to see 'Description' for any item in the 'List View'.
Technically this can be done by adding a 'new long text' field as well, however that would mean we are duplicating the text/content, as the Description for the task/item is already written in the Description Column.
So please, consider the feature of displayed 'Description' field info in a Column under list-view.

Hey, everyone!
I understand there are other asks for this feature, but I did want to drop a tip in case you weren't aware. If you notice the line icon (looks like this: 三) and hover over it, you'll get a hover-state version of the description!
Hope this helps 💜

PLEASE DO THIS CLICKUP! Such an important feature. Even if you do it in plain HTML.

Hey Zach - ClickUp!
I was annoyed by not being able to see descriptions and hovered over the icon and discorvered the feature you mentioned here!
Very nice but with one small picky caviat: the context window stays the same even when the description is only one line.
I like the maximum size but it should be able to be smaller to reduce visual blocking of other information on the list!
(But I do also think you should be able to add description as a column...)

I'll give that a +1
And please don't be mean to pood Zack. They're just doing their job.

Zach - ClickUp do we have any updates on this?

seriously, clickup. Just do this. Its pathetic reading requests for such simple functionality as ... "I would like to see my task description in the list view". Are you fkin shting me! Build it yesterday. This is standard functionality. Oh, your hot tip, can suck a hot tip. I think we know you can click on the task or preview when hovering the three lines....thats not even a work around. Thats a QoL feature advertised as fundamental functionality. BUILD IT. We are sick of asking. It's not like we are asking the world. If this was free, itd be annoying, but its not....so its unacceptable. Get on it.
The time for being nice is over with you.

adding my two cents (on the 4-year anniversary, no less!)
i'm trying to build up our internal knowledge base, and especially with the new task type feature, i'd like to do the entries as tasks.
it would be great if I could share a view with my colleagues where they can immediately read the descriptions of each entry, without having to click

Absolutley need to comment on this one. I'm thinking of switching over from todoist but this feature is an absolutley must have as I need to see this details from my primary view. As per todoist. This is a show stopper for me. Not going to use clickup because of this.

The fact that this feature is still not yet implemented in October 2023 after almost 4 year since the last request (27 may 2019), is mind highly upsetting and disappointing.
Reduced to scale all it's required is to add the dynamic field to the options panel, sanitize the content of the html field output of all the styles in that field, if concerned about the load add an pop-up disclaimer to trigger for those that have 30+ tasks in their lists, like "This will make your dash look cluttered, are you sure ?"
By default the description field in the list shows only a preview, the first 100 words or similar the rest is available with a Read More button like it's in the detailed task view, but with an info ticker to the description column for those that want to show the full content of the task, not just a preview, again with a pop-up disclaimer.
If someone is feeling nervous of the reception or possible bugs (because there will be bugs) add it to the beta opt in, let people decide if they want to use it as it might come with a loaded panel and rich browser load.
We're still dealing with CVS reports like it's 2003 and we barely discovered ms office and clippy is showing us options in ms excel.

I was about to ask for this feature

Zach - ClickUp: Please add this. I understand that there is the line icon that we can hover over, but this is cumbersome for clients to view.
One thing that no one has mentioned which makes this actually a useful and worthwhile feature to add is that it helps alleviate some current pain points with limited guest permissions as it pertains to the Activity Log for each task:
Currently, for reasons I don't necessarily fully agree with, every update to a custom field is updated, that update is by default (and non-optionally) documented in the activity log for that task.
AND
each change is visible to Guests — along with timestamps of that change and a snippet of the earlier value prior to the update, once they open a Task. This is difficult for us and does not encourage async work because some clients (with Guest accounts) may receive notifications of custom fields being updated (we also cannot control their notifications settings... not ideal), or they may open tasks and look over timestamps of each change which is not the greatest reflection back on our team if a team member decides to catch up on work outside of their typical hours or is running behind and trying to do a lot of work in a short period of time (it happens to everyone) Imagine every keystroke on a spreadsheet going to a client being timestamped with exactly when you made that exact update — and you couldn't delete that — not super appealing.
The nice thing about Descriptions is that 1) it's super front-and-center if clients open a task so they are never lost, even if they are otherwise unfamiliar with ClickUp, but more importantly, 2) Guests do not have permissions to view "Description History" — so our team can feel more comfortable updating the task description (rather than a custom field) at any hour of the day without feeling quite so "monitored."
Having the option for the description to appear as a column in List View feels like a no-brainer and would be helpful in so many ways, for what is arguably the #1 most prioritized "Custom Field" in all of ClickUp. I'm completely fine if it does not load rich text and cano only load plain text and emojis. We don't need the column to display an entire table if a table is in the Task Description. If that happens, display a message prompting the user to open that task to view. But let us at least have the option.
Currently with the "hover over the lines button," using Description for this is not an option. Adding this feature would make it an option and would solve other problems for us in the meantime. Thank you.
