Apply Changes to Single/All Recurring Tasks for Calendar
Y
Yael
I love the recurring feature but for me personally it's missing the ability to move a single task in the calendar without it effecting everything else.
Currently, if my plans change for a certain day and I want to reschedule a recurring task due on it, I'd have to create the task again and thus clutter my calendar. Because I don't want to change my entire future schedule by moving this one task to a later time.
Just a feature to choose wether or not to apply it to all (upcoming/everything) or the single task would help a great deal. Then it would be perfect for setting up a schedule.
Have a nice day and keep up the great work! :)

One-time date change of a recurring task
J
Jessica Verver
It seems that recurring tasks have changed, so that now they continue to recur based on the day that they're completed, not the day they were scheduled to recur.
For example, I have a recurring task set up for every Friday. I wasn't able to do it that day, so I manually moved it to Monday as a one-time thing. But then when I completed it on Monday, it rescheduled to keep recurring on Mondays going forward - but it should keep recurring on Fridays.
Is there a way to change the settings so that once again the task will recur on the day of the week that it was set up for, even if it is manually changed sometimes?

Edit details of one instance of a recurring task

I would love the ability to edit the title (and other details) of individual instances of recurring tasks—especially when all future instances are created at once using the “Create new task” option. Currently, editing one instance updates all, which limits flexibility for content planning and similar workflows. This feature would be extremely valuable for my use case and I would use it heavily!

Rescheduling Reoccurring Tasks (without impacting "Reoccurring" future tasks)

Please allow ClickUp users/admins to reschedule "Reoccurring Tasks" without impacting "Reoccurring" future tasks.

ClickUp Rep's video saying not possible... please open feature request ticket: https://sharing.clickup.com/clip/p/t90161061909/9d70a597-13ee-4e9a-ac34-3a86d3fe65a7/9d70a597-13ee-4e9a-ac34-3a86d3fe65a7.webm?filename=Rescheduling%20of%20Recurring%20Tasks?filename=Rescheduling%20of%20Recurring%20Tasks
Additionally, please make the "Pseudo Tasks" (for the reoccurring future tasks) into "Actual Tasks" so that the "Color Codes" we assign to the tasks via "Custom Fields" are properly reflected for all upcoming future reoccurring events. Currently, all upcoming future reoccurring tasks show up as "Grey Color" despite the original task being a distinct assigned color; this is VERY annoying since we assign specific distinct colors to different tasks for easy reference. Refer to the the "ClickUp Rep's video saying not possible" for what I am referring to here.
Google Calendar allows users to execute these features/tasks with no problem. ClickUp should have the same capability.
Thank you!

Changing current occurrence of a recurring task
Ashish
When there is a change in the current occurrence of a recurring task, it should not change the recurring characteristic of the task altogether. Example: a task is scheduled to repeat every Monday. Currently, if i re-schedule the current task to Tuesday, it changes the task automatically to repeat every Tuesday. Like the app Clickup has it right, if you reschedule the current recurrence from Monday to Tuesday, it only changes that recurrence to Tuesday. After completion it will be scheduled to Monday again next week. If i want to make a permanent change to the recurrence, i have to open the task detail and change the recurring properties there. This is a good feature as making changes in the calendar and schedule is a normal part of every work.

Make changes to recurring events without affecting future or past occurrences.

I need to be able to change the individuals assigned to recurring tasks on a case-by-case basis. As it stands, changing the person assigned to the task propagates, rendering the recurring task functionality inoperable.

Recurrence with exception + management per event like Google Calendar
Mara
There are quite a lot of option to set the recurrence of a task, but not one that offers exceptions.
I want to set a task that would be done weekly but on the 3rd Friday for example (there is then a task that is settle for this moment, every 3rd Friday).
Or then being able to select several possibility (like for days) : on 1st, 2nd, 4th and potentially last Friday of the week
Managing reccuring event in Google Calendar is really easy to change also for a specific event. That would be great if it was as easy in CU. Right now it is a lot of work and I sometime wonder if it is worth it as a tiny exceptionnal change isn't possible.

Reschedule a recurrence

On many occasions, a situation arises when a recurring task or an event requires to be postponed or preponed without changing the whole recurrence settings. It will be helpful if an option to reschedule an occurrence is available. While resetting one recurrence, the system may offer options something like the following:
- Reschedule only this occurrence.
- Reschedule all future recurrences also.

Content calendars are the perfect example of why this matters — same structure every week, but the specific topic changes. Right now you can't tweak one occurrence without affecting everything else. That all-or-nothing behavior is genuinely limiting, and it's on our radar.

Two things here: rescheduling one instance without breaking the pattern, and making future instances "real tasks" so custom fields display correctly. Both are known issues with how recurring tasks work under the hood.
Recurring tasks need a deeper overhaul to fix these properly - it's on the backlog but not in Q1. The color issue is definitely annoying though, I agree!
