Right now, the ClickUp API doesn’t let developers create custom statuses, a frustrating gap in the API when trying to automate workspace setups.
For example, I’m building a tool that transfers all data between workspaces. It works well, except users still have to manually recreate each status. That slows everything down and introduces unnecessary tedium.
Exposing status creation via the API would be a game-changer for automation, migration tools, and anyone managing complex workflows from the ClickUp API.

Support Creating Statuses via API

Currently, the ClickUp API does not support creating new statuses. This is a significant limitation for developers building automation tools.
For example, I'm developing an app that transfers all data from one workspace to another, which is useful for account migrations and creating sandbox environments. Without API access to create statuses, users are forced to manually recreate each one. This process is slow, error-prone, and defeats the purpose of automation.
Please consider exposing status creation through the API. It would enable full workflow replication, improve developer tooling, and dramatically enhance the usability of ClickUp for automated workspace management.

We also found that during migration to ClickUp that our biggest barrier was the migration / import. The wizard lacks features for this so we used the API to create everything but had to stop in the middle of each task to create statuses as the API does not allow it.

This feature would be a great addition to being able to create Spaces with the API. Currently spaces created via API have to use the basic status and so we still have a manual step in setting up new Spaces.

We create spaces and tasks via the API and would like to synchronise the status of tasks accordingly. Our integration should later be able to be used by different companies, so that we would use the same statuses everywhere if possible.
