Busy/Free option in Google Calendar sync
Marni Business
It would be nice to be able to set a task as busy or free for the calendar sync with google. Right now it shows everything as busy which was messing with the ability for people to book into my schedule, so I had to turn google calendar syncing off. If I could set all tasks as free by default and then set certain ones as actually busy that would be beneficial.

Hey, everyone! Thank you for following along on this post and providing your feedback!
To keep everyone informed, we've updated the status of this Canny post to reflect current product initiatives.
Before working on the request for the ability to have a Busy/Free option in Google Calendar our integrations team is focusing on making the entire Google Calendar integration more reliable.
Currently, they are focusing on this, other reliability efforts, and the features we are excited to share with you during our LevelUp Conference!
We hope to revisit this request in the future and the ClickUp team will keep this post up to date when we have more to share in the future!

I agree wholeheartedly on the need for this feature -- we use Calendly for external meeting scheduling. Ideally we'd be able to tentatively schedule our ClickUp tasks while leaving our calendar open for our clients to book with us, then move the ClickUp task around if a meeting comes in. If the calendar is blocked with a ton of "Busy" tasks that can easily move, then our Calendly links become virtually unusable.
We should be able to switch the tasks from Busy to Free as we see fit, and ideally select a default. We can switch the other events from Busy to Free, it's only the "Focus Time" tasks that lack this ability and we also lack the ability to remove "Focus Time" as the event type.

It's an absolute MUST-HAVE. There are Assets with different task types that are not meant to make my calendar "busy"

I guess they dont plan to change since the request has been made in 2018 and i'm now realizing the same issue in 2025

same problems for me.

Luci N. do you know if this has progressed at all?
The updated ClickUp calendar is great but without this function it gives a false picture of availability. Most people will be using Google Calender or Office 365 alongside ClickUp and many more will be using meeting scheduling apps so being able to mark calendMost people will be using Google Calendar or Office 365 alongside ClickUp, and many more will be using meeting scheduling apps, so being able to mark calendar entries as free or busy as required is vital.

This is a huge problem. If this one-day task throws off the autoscheduling feature, making it impossible to schedule appointments correctly, then the entire calendar update is pointless.

Is there an update on where this lies on the ClickUp roadmap?

Just adding a comment to the pile - If this has been an issue for SIX YEARS, it's insane that clickup integrates without some kind of very aggressive warning about this bug. This totally blocked my calendar for weeks, making scheduling a nightmare. To top it off, clickup is giving the exact same "we're working on it" message in response TWO YEARS LATER.

Seriously? This feature breaks the calendar and makes literally no sense. It was reported 4 YEARS AGO. Can we have this fixed at last??

What bothers me the most is that tasks that last more than a day are also transferred as busy, and this blocks entire days (or even weeks/months) on my calendar!
please update this sync soon
