Busy/Free option in Google Calendar sync
planned
Marni Business
It would be nice to be able to set a task as busy or free for the calendar sync with google. Right now it shows everything as busy which was messing with the ability for people to book into my schedule, so I had to turn google calendar syncing off. If I could set all tasks as free by default and then set certain ones as actually busy that would be beneficial.

Hey @JAMES HEBDON! Due to our current focus on speed and performance, our ETA for this feature has changed a bit.
We still will release this, but we are delaying certain features a bit in order to spend more time and resources on performance.
Thank you for your patience!

+1 - come on guys.. 2 1/2 years later for a pretty core fix...
Zeb
@JAMES HEBDON: It's in our staging environment, there's just a ton of QA that goes along with Google Calendar updates. Their API is notoriously unreliable; we should get in January finally. Thanks for you patience and I hear you.

Came onto this thread to second this. Having Clickup tasks blocking my availability is creating huge issues when I have to share my calendar with others for appointments. I have to go into GCal and manually make each all-day task set to "free". Not really efficient.
Zeb
We're very close to releasing a ton of new Google Calendar features!

@Zeb: Thanks for the update. 18 sub tasks / features hopefully not 18 clicks. Can you consider designing this enhancement and others so we don't have to click each of these features?
For example, with the attached calendar dialogue box picture as an example, I can't stay on my keyboard to set a day and time by typing, tabbing through fields and or moving with arrows and an enter to finish.
I like to use my keyboard and "tab" or "use arrows left, right, up, down", then "enter or command enter" to finish and exit a dialogue box.
I'm not sure how others prefer to interact with your software. That may be a good UI survey for your customers.
No need to reply, just my input, thanks.

Hey @John R Crowley Jr! Thank you for your feedback. We're also working in completely enchanting the look and feel of the date picker across ClickUp 🙂 You'll be able to use your keyboard to set start/due date with ease!

Thank you

@Zeb: Hi Zeb! Could you elaborate on the "very close" part? Looks like it's 2 months later - are these features implemented? I'm still a bit of a novice using the system, so if I missed this feature/fix I'd really appreciate some direction.

I patched this with a Zapier Zap. It instantly sets availability for new ClickUp events to Free if the event is 24 hours long or greater: https://zapier.com/shared/599289b7291c2574c87628059a56801861b74ed2.
Most of the all day events from ClickUp are deadlines or visualization for long projects. If you truly need availability to be Busy, you would do that by hand in the event in Google Calendar.
Matt Fraser
That worked really well. I just added one extra little bit to the filter so it didn't affect any other full day events. If the description contained "app.clickup.com". Just double protection. Thanks Mark that is super handy.

Please make this happen! This is a MAJOR bug for me at the moment, rendering the 2-Way Sync completely useless. As it stands, all of my days that have tasks due appear 'Blocked' in my Calendar whenever I have this integration enabled. Having a Busy/Free toggle would be HUGE, as well as true 2-Way sync to see other Calendar events outside of ClickUp.
Zachary Snader
This is important for people using Calendly or internal schedulers. Tasks spanning multiple days will block a calendar entirely. Makes it hard to advocate for enabling a Google Calendar integration.

@Mark Winstein: Appreciate the workaround, though this is definitely something ClickUp needs to fix as well. I don't pay for Zapier premium, but I do pay for ClickUp and would hope they fix this ASAP.

Need it!:)

in progress
We're updating our Google Calendar integrations right now, standby!
Matt Fraser
@Zeb: Great! Thank you
Will Parks
@Zeb: Awesome, thank you!
Is there any place we may go to see progress/updates?
Matt Fraser
@Zeb: Any update on this?

This is also true for Outlook on Mac
Andrew Govender
Surely this would be an URGENT request since this makes the integration unusable if you share your calendar in any way with others. Please ClickUp, what's happening here?
