Search in ClickUp is very slow & inaccurate right now
in progress
Albert D.
There are few closed bugs related to search speed yet the issue persists.
It takes me over a minute to find a task, and even sometimes I get server error and no results at all.
Another problem is that results are inacurrate.
The pain of using Clickup Search feature is so severe that our users have following workaround:
- enable mail notifications
- when mails with notifications land in Gmail -> archive them automatically
- when in need to find sth - use GMAIL SEARCH

I'm currently unable to search in Clickup. No results. Just getting the "working" icon. It's reproducible across my entire organization right now.

@Matthew Maes: i love this silence in here. 2 days and nothing. i am really wondering what going on at clickup
Matthew Maes
@Indigo Locomotive: I did send a msg to support and got a pretty quick reply and at least for us the issue did go away by the next morning.

Also, interestingly enough, I am able to logout easily and quickly.

Is Clickup running slow? It takes about 30-45 seconds to login and about 20 seconds to load my tasks.

I'm still experiencing this issue, I noticed it was in progress, but really hope you'll make some progress soon. I'm working on very short deadlines at the moment and a lag in searching is not really beneficial for my stress levels...

Search does not work at all for me today. It's getting unacceptable.
After some minutes, I get "no exact matches found. Try relevant search" ... even though I am using relevant search.

Searching tasks using the filter function works though: https://share.clickup.com/clip/p/t2494557/d7c51e59-3c2a-4643-92be-07cc9e5d2bde/screen-recording-2021-02-03-15%3A10.webm
Can you tell me why is this the case?
Can you give a rough estimate of when this bug, which has been reoccuring for months now, will be solved for good?
Because if this will take another 6 months to be solved, I would rather switch to a different product now than stick around.
Cheers

In addition, search does not trigger when pressing the shortcut "S" while viewing a task. Neither does "K". Other shortcuts such as "T" work fine. Is this intended? If yes, why?

@Jakob Schmitt:
Thank you for reaching out!
We did experience an issue with EU search earlier that has since been resolved. You should see that reflected on your end. I do apologize for any inconvenience this has caused and for the disruption to your workflow.
Our top priority in 2021 is improving our performance so we can avoid these issues in the future.
Have a great day!

@Juan Cardenas: Thanks, Juan, indeed, it has since been resolved. Thanks for getting back to me. Have a great day.

Me and my teams made similar experiences using the search function. Although at the beginning of our start in ClickUp last spring it seemed alright, in the last months I often didn't find the keywords I was looking for, even with exact search. I heard the same from other users in our teams. I also assume it would be more expected and logical for users to find exact matches shown first (without additional adjustment). It was not always like that: Sometimes I even couldn't figure out why this special amount of tasks was displayed, finding no overlap with my keyword. Unfortunately I didn't make a screenshot of these cases. Anyway, it is not a constant bug with us.

Yep this is really frustrating as I have just brought my tasks into Clickup and was unaware this was an issue. Someone mentioned enabling exact search but I do not see this.

Jordan Randolph
Hey, @Judy Lipinski!
Thanks for reaching out with a great question.
While I can't guarantee that an exact search will alleviate the issue, I can show you how to set it!
In the top right-hand corner underneath the QuickSwitch button, there is a dropdown menu that says "Recent" in your picture. Clicking that will display some additional options including "exact" search.
Please let me know if you have any questions regarding this process! Have a great day!
Thanks!

we've encountered this too. we use codes for out tasks that involve invoices, so we can reference back to them, and even using the same precise code, there is no search match.
Indigo Locomotive
its ridiculous already reported constant 20-100% cpu usage. 1gb ram consumption. idle cpu usage. lags. 10-20s loadtimes... but sure we will send it now to bugs@... what will the next mail adress look like to report the still ongoing massive load every second? ... :/

@Shaquille Payne: Thank you for taking this issue up! From your reply I understand that you consider this an intermittent issue related to perfomance. For us, it's an ongoing problem which persists since many months. It has two aspects:
1) relevance of search results - which was always poor and the problem aggravates the more tasks we have. This is primary reason why we send all notifications to Gmail mailbox, so that we can search for Clickup tasks via Gmail search, which is instantaneous and returns relevant results!
2) slowness of search - which we perceive as also downgrading over time
Shaquille Payne
@Albert D.: Hey Albert!
I hope the day is treating you well! 😀
Thanks for providing that clarification.
Right now we are investigating another issue separately regarding the relevancy of search results returned. Here is the related post(https://clickup.canny.io/admin/board/bugs/p/search-results-inaccurate), feel free to add yourself as a voter there!
As far as your issue with long load times when using Search. That may be best directed to this post(https://clickup.canny.io/admin/board/feature-requests/p/web-app-performance-and-speed-issues), which is tracking current speed issues! But it would also help if you emailed us a video example of this issue, so that we may pass that along to our developers!
We aren't completely done with optimizations but we have started to shift our focus to prioritize optimizations over new features! So you should start to notice these improvements gradually over time!
We truly appreciate your patience and your help with bringing these problems to our attention! I promise that we're listening 👂
