New Chrome Extension
building now
Alex Lashkov
Good news! We're rebuilding the ClickUp Chrome Extension from the ground up -- AI-first, faster, and free from the reliability issues of the past.
To make sure it fits seamlessly into your daily workflows, we'd love to know:
👉 What other Chrome extensions do you use regularly?
(e.g. writing assistants, screenshot tools, video clip recorders, AI copilots - anything!)
This info will fuel our roadmap + ensure compatibility with tools you already use!

What a pathetic joke. Your chrome extension has been completely broken for years with thousands of complaints and instead of fixing the completely broken extension you release an upsell version with features people don't want. All I want to do is to create a task from Gmail, that's it. Yet now were being forced into some AI nonsense upsell. Why not just have a working extension that people can upgrade with AI if they want. The AI upsell should be an option, even if that means two separate extension, an AI one and a non AI one.

Our Team jumps into Board Meetings on the Daily with our customers (Community Association we manage). I've attached an image from a board meeting that illustrates how we document the resolution for each agenda item/task. It would supercharge our Team to be able to highlight the resolution or new agenda items/task and quickly Use Brain Max to create a task in the list where we are already tracking all the action items for the specific community in their own ClickUp folder/list. Also having a way to add new status updates to tasks created in the previous meeting would improve efficiency. This would enabling our team to swiftly move and update Board Meeting items with exceptional efficiency! : )
Lukas Moser
wait, what? the new chrome extension is requiring me to purchase the AI add on?
Why is this not optional and built on top of the basic extension?
Sometimes I am really struggling with how Clickup thinks to make their customers happy
Alex Lashkov
Lukas Moser it is unfortunately not possible to build on top of an old extension. What possible though is to bring some features of an old extension to the new one - how this should exactly look is tbd. But if you could hop on a quick call and share your vision of how this should work to be the most efficient for you, that would help us a lot! Wdyt?
James
I saw a user comment asking if this will be a requirement for purchasing the AI Plan. While I truly appreciate ClickUp and find its AI features incredible, the current pricing structure is quite expensive. I'm not trying to criticize the system or imply it lacks value. However, paying $300-$400 annually is a significant cost, especially for students, those impacted by the current economy, or individuals using ClickUp for startup projects or personal tasks.
I understand that creating and maintaining the AI technology behind ClickUp is a costly endeavor, but perhaps there could be more budget-friendly options available? This would make it easier for individuals and small businesses to access ClickUp's advanced features without breaking the bank.
As a loyal ClickUp user, I truly believe in the potential of this platform and its AI capabilities. But as someone who wants to continue using it long-term, I also hope to see more affordable pricing options in the future.
Thank you for taking the time to read my feedback.
Alex Lashkov
James hey there! We are in the early days with the extension, this is just the first beta. It will be AI-first, but at some point there might be more non-AI features that will allow usage when you run out of credits. We are now evaluating all the feedback before we can make any further decisions on features! So thanks for the message, it is really helpful
Michael Anderson
I think we should be able to tune the AI with custom instructions by default for how we want it to behave. For example. If I say "create a task" and dont specify anything further. It should know exactly what list I want the task to be placed in.
Alex Lashkov
Michael Anderson: that is interesting, mind jumping on a quick interview this week to talk through your experience with the new extension and asks? My email should be visible in the profile!
Michael Anderson
Alex Lashkov sure thing.
Michael Anderson
Alex Lashkov can you share your email? I am not able to find it
Alex Lashkov
Michael Anderson: I just emailed you!

Alex Lashkov love what its able to do and capabilities. I do want to give some feedback but is there a constructive way you would like the feedback particularly?
I just didnt want to slam you with a Wall of Text on here. If you have a feedback Form we could provide you and your team with insights glad to help contribute give you exactly what you want to hear.
Or do we open a Support Ticket with things that might be working as we expect them to be?
Alex Lashkov
Vincent D'Amico you can email me directly too, that will be faster. Can you find my email in the profile?
Alex Lashkov
Hey there,
We just launched the Brain MAX Chrome Extension in beta, and want y'all be the first to try it!
What this version does is it brings ClickUp Brain’s AI right into your browser so you can do all of this from ANY tab:
- Update your workspace. Instantly create tasks, update your calendar, draft Docs, and more.
- Connect and search your apps. Locate buried files and lost threads fast – no more digging for answers.
- Ask top AI models anything. Chat with GPT-5, Gemini Pro, Claude Sonnet, and more without juggling subscriptions.
- Summarize web pages. Turn hours of research into minutes with AI-powered analysis and trusted citations.
- Use Talk to Text. Quickly dictate polished emails, Docs, or tasks and get 4x more done!
Get it here: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/clickup-talk-to-ai-in-any/bpanegeigcjabmofichmidnfmfhomkgo
P. S. This is early version, so it is not ideal and may lack some features. But with your help we plan to make it even more powerful fast. Share any ideas, clips with bugs, etc here or email me directly, and we will be on it ASAP!
Leslie Surel
Alex Lashkov Will this extension require us to have the AI add-on in our ClickUp accounts? We have a paid Business Plan. Adding AI would more than quadruple our costs.
Alex Lashkov
Leslie Surel pricing strategy for this is not yet 100% set in stone, so having an input from your side would help us to better shape the offering.
Leslie Surel
Alex Lashkov I'm actually a little confused here. Maybe I'm not in the right thread. I want a Chrome extension that lets me add ClickUp tasks easily from my browser, without having to copy something from one place, switch over to ClickUp, manually create a new task, then paste the info I copied, then save. Pretty much like the old chrome extension was supposed to do, but didn't work reliably.
My use cases are very simple -- (1) I'm in gmail and a client sends me a suggestion for a project we're working on. I'd click something to add a task to Clickup. Enter the info into a popup or something, click save. Without leaving gmail. (2) I'm on a website with an interesting article I want to add to our team wiki, I click a button in my Chrome menu, select which list or folder to add it to, then save and close. Again, without having to manually copy the URL, switch over to my ClickUp tab, select a list, create a task, and paste the info.
I may be missing something with what you're sharing here, but pretty sure I don't need AI for any of that. I don't need AI to evaluate or process anything, I just want to connect tools.
Alex Lashkov
Leslie Surel this extension is AI-first, meaning that right now it is not a direct replica of an old extension with its specific workflows. Also you are not supposed to copy and paste anything with the new extension - you click buttons in the sidebar or Gmail and it creates tasks and does things or you command it to do so.
Vlad Nedelcu
Alex Lashkov I was so excited to test it when I received the email, just to uninstall it few minutes later. Sorry, I can't justify $320 to create a task with AI from an email when I had this feature for free 3 years ago.
It's mindblowing how all the research you did here had people asking for a minimum of basic features from the old extension, yet you kept pushing the 'you can just tell the AI to do it' narrative and delivered just 10% of that.
Alex Lashkov
Vlad Nedelcu let's not forget this is a very early beta and nobody said there will be nothing beyond that.
Vladimirs Anufrijevs
Alex Lashkov Does your roadmap have feature, that allows attach files from Gmail? (when I want to create task from Gmail).
Alex Lashkov
Vladimirs Anufrijevs: we are planning our next milestones, this will be in the list
Leslie Surel
Alex Lashkov I guess that is where the problem is. Like Vlad said, I don't want AI involved for a simple connector. There are much less robust tools than ClickUp that can do this. I don't need or want AI in ClickUp especially if I have to pay for it. I find it incredibly disappointing if the "rebuild the Chrome extension" actually meant not having a useful Chrome extension, but rather another AI tool that we have to pay for.
To me it sounds like anyone who wants to add tasks to their project management platform from email or other websites will have to (a) Use something other than ClickUp, or (b) Continue to use ClickUp, but go through the steps and maintenance of using a 3rd party tool like Zapier somehow.
Alex Lashkov
Leslie Surel sure I understand, but we really believe AI can be leveraged efficiently for those tasks + we are planning our future roadmap now, and there is a huge chance there will also be additional features beyond that, as I said before.
Andres Vitela
Alex Lashkov There seems to be an issue when adding Gmail emails as tasks. The email link in the task opens Gmail but does not open the email that was referenced. Attachments from emails do not come with the tasks either like before. I like the new extension, but I miss the old extension where I can easily see all my spaces and lists and quickly add people and due dates. Now it seems to be cumbersome having to type in everything especially when the Brain does not pick the right lists to choose from. That defeats the purpose of not having to remember everything in Clickup and everyone's name. I also find it not as quick vs the old extension. Brain has to think... vs before I just click on my list and assign it and date it and done quickly. However, when I do know the exact list and everything about the task then the new Brain extension is very useful because it does exactly what I asked right into Clickup. There could be options to select lists for times when someone doesn't remember the list, otherwise I find myself going to the Clickup app and create the task there. The @ could be improved to show a people tab and a task tab and a recent tab. It currently shows recent only but If I want to @ someone or a task, I then again need to remember but If I don't then off to the app I go. Adding a calendar option too would be good to choose a date from because there are times when I need to pull up a calendar to find a good due date and currently that requires me to leave the Brain extension and open up the Clickup app or another windows calendar. I would prefer to have as much of this in the extension to act similar to Clickup app where I can do everything within it and not have to type as much or even talk because I'm in meetings. This is through Edge Browser so maybe Chrome is different in experience. Let me know if maybe I'm missing something. Everything else in Brain has been great so far.
Alex Lashkov
Andres Vitela if you installed it in Edge, it should be basically be similar experience. I've recorded everything you've mentioned. We will try to work in making all flows as fast as we can, that is for sure! Thanks for the feedback 💜

Nick Sackman
Alex Lashkov I use another extension for a custom new tab. I disabled the brain new tab and chrome set it back to the chrome default new tab and I'm not able to use my other new tab extension. I'd be fine with keeping the brain new tab if it allowed me to customize it some more, specifically add my own custom links. But for now I have to disable the clickup extension because i'm constantly opening new tabs and using my custom links.
I also agree with Andres about adding new tasks, either from gmail or not. I don't want to have to type out the space, folder, list that my task should go in. If it's coming from gmail, it should guess where it should go based on the email that i'm creating a task from (even including the email addresses it's from). Or it should give me some drop downs to choose the space/folder/list.
Alex Lashkov
Nick Sackman for gmail - understood!
For the new tab - you actually can have our extension and do not have the new tab experience. Just untoggle this in settings:
N
Nick Sackman
Alex Lashkov Yeah I did that, and Chrome just defaulted to it's own New Tab. In my chrome settings it still lists Clickup as the new tab page.

Luke Kilgour
It logs me out every single day! So annoying!
Alex Lashkov
Luke Kilgour try the new one I've shared above!
David Mucci
Hey Alex! Just wanted to add two small suggestions: 1. Please allow us to attach Gmails through Chrome to attach to an Event not just a task. My company attends a lot of events but there’s no way to do that without creating a task. 2. Move the ‘X’ to close to be a bit closer to the ClickUp pop up and make it more obvious. I use a Mac and I always look to the right for closure but it’s located elsewhere. That would be cool. Thanks!
Alex Lashkov
David Mucci like events in Gcal or how exactly? Trying to understand the use-case better..
David Mucci
Alex Lashkov So for example, if I have an Event created in ClickUp (with lots of custom fields for Tradeshows, Expos, etc. - see attached sample from my Space - it's 2 pages/images), I'd like to be able to attach Gmails from the event hosts, venues, etc into the Event itself. Currently, you can only attach Gmails directly to Tasks (see additional screenshots) and not Events. It makes little sense to be able to attach docs, lists, etc inside an Event in ClickUp but not be able to attach any Gmail communications surrounding that event. Does that make sense?

Gabe Farajollah
Speechify and Readwise's Reader... Also, please add the ability to add the priority of a task created from the taskbar (or even add a tag, which can kick off an automation that will add the priority)! Many people sort lists by priority--or at least they should :)--so without this functionality, the extension is much less valuable.
Alex Lashkov
Gabe Farajollah you should be able to do smth like that via AI, I think. Can you try here https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/clickup-talk-to-ai-in-any/bpanegeigcjabmofichmidnfmfhomkgo ?
