Employee Timesheet Export Grouped by Projects for Monthly Payrolls
We are currently utilizing ClickUp extensively for Project Management and all team time tracking. However, we are facing a critical gap in reporting that is forcing us to maintain a costly and inefficient dual-tool workflow solely for monthly payroll reporting. This is a business-critical feature required for legal and financial compliance based on our monthly accounting cycle. The Core Problem The current Timesheets Report export functionality does not support the mandatory grouping structure required for monthly payroll processing and client billing allocation. We need a robust export from the Timesheet Report that allows for time to be broken down and grouped first by employee, and then sub-grouped by the specific project they worked on. Mandatory Monthly Reporting Structure Needed We require the ability to export the Timesheets Report as a CSV/XLSX file with the data structured as follows: Grouping Level Requirement Time Range / Monthly (Must be selectable for a specific calendar month). Primary Grouping Employee Name/ID Secondary Grouping Project/List/Folder Name (The cost center/client identifier) Required Columns in the Export:Employee NameProject NameTask Name (Source of the time entry)Date of EntryTime Logged (Monthly Total & Daily Breakdown)Notes (Time tracking description) Business and Payroll Justification (Why This is Non-Negotiable) This export format is mandatory for our organization's monthly payroll and financial processes: Monthly Payroll Allocation: We must allocate employee hours and associated costs to specific projects, cost centers, or client codes for accounting and financial auditing purposes every month. A lump-sum hour report is insufficient. Compliance: The monthly breakdown is a requirement for our internal audits and external financial reporting, proving exactly where time (and therefore labor cost) was spent. Efficiency: We currently spend 2h per employee every month manually exporting, manipulating, sorting, and verifying ClickUp data in a spreadsheet outside of ClickUp to achieve this required grouping. We are also using some other tools. This manual reconciliation process introduces errors and completely undermines the benefit of tracking time within your platform. Desired Solution We need the Timesheets Report to include a function (or an enhanced existing function) that allows a one-click export based on the following selection criteria: Date Range Filter: Selectable Monthly Period. Grouping Setting: Group by Employee / Sub-Group by Project. Action: Export CSV/XLSX with Grouped Monthly Totals. Conclusion: Our goal is to use ClickUp as the single source of truth for all time and project data. Without this mandatory, standardized monthly payroll export, we are forced to migrate our time tracking to a tool that supports this essential financial requirement. We urge you to prioritize this feature immediately.

Improve Time Tracking Accuracy with Permission Controls and Audit Logs
Accurate time tracking is essential for teams like mine that rely on billable hours, project profitability analysis, and performance evaluation. I depend on ClickUp to understand how long tasks actually take and to make informed decisions about staffing and budgeting. However, because all users can freely add, edit, or delete their own time entries, the data cannot be trusted as an accurate record of work. Without permission controls, users may: Manually add time after the fact instead of using the timer Edit or delete entries after the fact This makes it difficult to maintain accurate records and to measure real workload and profitability. The following enhancements would significantly improve reliability and oversight: Visibility into time-entry type: Distinguish timer-tracked time from manually entered time. 2. Audit trail transparency: Record in the task log whenever time is edited, or deleted. Ideally, ClickUp would also support permission-based controls, such as: Restricting who can edit or delete time entries Allowing admins to lock time logs while still allowing new entries Optionally disabling manual entry for teams that require timer-only accuracy Clickup Support recommended paid third-party integrations, but I am already investing in ClickUp's premium tiers and cannot justify an additional subscription for a core accuracy feature. Essential time tracking controls should be native.
