Docs directory
complete
Bill
I am excited about docs and hoping to be able to get much of what I have used Confluence, Notion, Slite, Slab, etc. for in the past right here in Clickup!
I have posted about seeing Docs outside the spaces/lists where they reside right now. Part of this would be a simple directory on the home area of ClickUp where you could simply access the docs, then drill in and see history, etc.
Thanks guys!

Ivan Villa: And to see this done, great work guys Docs 2.0 looks impressive so far, been playing with it for about 20 min!

Organized by the spaces and folders already - that would be great

I suspect (hoping) the new layout means that Clickup will add Docs/Conversations/Forms down the far left navigation. It's great to contextualise all of these items within their projects but definitely need a simple aggregated view as well.

Phil Sim: Thats a very keen observation :) We are planning to add docs to the far left navigation with the new layout!

In addition to having the docs view on a list or folder, it would be great if you could add a docs view/repo to a space, in the same way as you add a folder or list. Space level doc repos would be really useful for us. Eg. Meeting minutes, coding standards, deployment protocols, etc.
Ie. General purpose doc repos that are treated like first class citizens on the space level. Hope that makes sense!
Keep up the great work 🔥

I also agree that the current way Docs and Chat (Page Views) currently work are SUPER weird, totally hidden, and really unintuitive. I really hope the ClickUp team is aware of that and is working on a cleaner workflow for those, along with File Management.
A Project's Documents, Conversations and Files should NOT be hidden in a "View". I even had to create a detailed step-by-step video for my clients and developers explaining how to find the project's documents and chat. 😖

Sergio Vazquez II: We are certainly aware of this and we will solve it very early 2020!

Yes! I'm trying to convince my boss to let our team totally switch to ClickUp instead of Notion.

Yes agreed! Also a shortcut on the mobile app to create a page within a Doc quickly, and choose which project it belongs to.

I definitely agree with that, I like notion way of putting it. It could be a folder with docs where docs would have a different icon or something ...

I'd like to see the Docs, Embeds, and Conversation Page Views associated with a Folder (Project) listed under the Folder with Lists. If you use Folders for Projects (we do) then that is where I'd expect them to be if they are part of a project. Having them listed in the title bar seems rather unintuitive. If that's the place for Folder items why do we have a sidebar; just put lists up there as well?

Toby: agreed. And the UX is horrible for managing the docs there, even on a 4K screen there’s not enough scrolling space it’s just horrible. Docs are treated as an afterthought sadly.

Teamwork has this cool app called "Spaces" that 'm using as my central docs repository/knowledge base, and it has beautiful editing etc. Just started using google docs as well but the formatting is a pain.
Can't wait to see a docs feature with rich formatting and beautiful layout in ClickUp!

Jaime-Lee: I played around with Spaces with Teamwork and actually talked to their product team quite a bit about that tool. There were some flaws that I think the ClickUp team, with their speed ;) will get to faster: You couldn't link just one task into a doc, it had to be a whole list, not useful if you are using a doc in a meeting and want to assign a single todo. Also, simple thing - you cannot highlight text with background color, just change the font color! Spaces is also a separate app with additional cost, so with all this in mind, I think ClickUp will catch up fast, I personally am waiting on Docs v.2 eagerly! Great start so far though...
